Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Bill and Jim…lots of luck

You guys really pi---d off some core folks. Some in my peer group got to stay while others were thrown under the EV bus. I consider myself lucky to be gone. Come October 31 thru November 30 we will witness the brain drain of Ford. First +30 yr engineers followed by technical experts then leadership level. The ink will not have a chance to dry on the org charts. Better do them in pencil. I suspect some 28-29 yr folks

I will call it the lump sum decrease avoidance package

Bill Ford and Jim Farley are so focused on getting everyone to row in the same direction.
They can’t see the ho-e in the boat and that it’s filling up with water.

Frog in the boiling pot syndrome.

The best thing for Detroit is a strong Ford Motor Company, not some toy train station for Billy Boy. BF loves all the praise he gets from the media and his Ann Arbor buddies who will turn on him the first time they don't like something. The sad part is, the employees are paying the price.

Agree with the post from @jek+1ipcac1J. Leaders lay out a vision and get everyone rowing in the same direction. When actions are taken, we all know why.

These cuts were poorly executed and the actions don't match the messaging. Hard to trust anything leadership has to say when they can't even articulate a clear road map.

These cuts have done irreparable harm to the company and employee morale. There are a lot of people looking for jobs elsewhere, all very talented people. They see the writing on the wall that the company has no loyalty to anyone for any reason whatsoever so they are leaving.

No infrastructure exists for EVs and battery/charging technology is not anywhere ready to replace ICE, much as I personally would like it too. For example, to drive your Mach-E to work everyday where you use more than 50% battery capacity requires the ability to charge it overnight to 100% and you need to have an electrician come and install the special charging station in your garage (assuming you have a garage), spending $4K on that station and installation. Then you are locked into Mach-E. Its just not practical. I presume the lightning is similar. I'm all in favor of moving in the direction of EVs but to just drop everything else and assume it will succeed is a big mistake.

The demand for batteries production is high and expected to skyrocket but natural resources are just not there to meet that demand.
The entire system is to put people into a loop where they are stuck with ev's.
Smart people already know how and why china controls this market and they would not get into this loop.

The only reason ford cut 10% was because Tesla cut 10%. This level of copying is sad.

Just like Hackett exited the sedan market. You can’t tell me we could have kept a fusion and focus around. There is nobody left to design them.

When I was let go nobody asked me what I was working on. I could have been working on the engine that runs on water. Nobody cared. Ford loves to build from new and never builds from something they know. Management sees head count , power and money. We built such complex vehicles because we had too many cooks in the kitchen all demanding must have things. They should put a unicorn ho-n on EV charging stations cause I have not spotted one yet this summer in northern Michigan. The UPers will never install them just to discourage trolls from visiting.

Too the Kool Aid drinkers. Time will tell regarding this Latest BF plan. All I say is look at his track record! As for JF & DF. They are not leaders. Leaders have a vision, and a plan people understand.
This pass February during the BONUS DEBACLE demonstrated you cannot trust them, the reason for the low bonus was poorly presented, then that same week JF press conference where he comes out and says we have too many people, they are not trainable,
Well, I ask myself what has this guy done in automotive? Answer "ZERO". Except read a teleprompter and dye his hair. Just remember JF whatever happens now is under you watch and time will judge you for what you are. As for BF his record speaks for itself fired as CEO 06 by his own family. Then uses corporate funds to buy the world's largest "CRACK HOUSE" in an area that looks like Lebanon. He needs to step away. Other than his name on the building he has clearly demonstrated he is out of touch with reality.

Doug Field is leading the direction for all EV's and the digital space for Ford. Model e is on solid ground at this point.

@oec that is because Jim is chasing Tesla which will be Fords downfall.

Exactly
They pulled the trigger too fast in the name of ev's when gm and others expect a slow transition.
