What kind of upper management do you all work for, where they leave you all to speculate. What kind of company has Ford become?!

Pension is closing forever. Service Days will be locked in. Those not leaving who can will be in chains forever if not gone in November. The company will be closing the doors and reorganizing.

Lump sum decrease avoidance will spur a lot of 30+ folks by Nov30. I was lucky I was chosen and got severance. If I was still there I would probably would have not been very productive but just planning my exit and job hunting on Fords time. My LL4 might be wise where this lease car is parked because one of my camo covered cameras might not see it when I accidentally back into it.

Wooden nickels but a pain in the a-s getting it fixed.

If they want to clean up their books. how about getting rid of all of the LL4+ management perks for life, like their lease cars?

There are some salaried areas that are UAW represented. They are the minority, but in those areas there is a good number of 30+ GRP personnel. Likely the company has wanted to get rid of them for years, however they are protected through bargaining agreement. If the company wanted them off-the-books this may be an opportunity to clear out many heads… even a 6 months pittance would likely clear many of them out…

My department has more coming. I've heard as early as next week. I cannot tell you the department because I was told in confidence. Work is being farmed out to Mexico.

Cant confirm, but it seems likely they rushed these past layoffs so they can get reported in Sept. for 3rd qtr earnings. I can see another small round in Oct/Nov for 4th qtr earnings. That way guidance for next year will look so much better.

There were some insignificant PS and Agency cuts in the last week of Jan 2022 after the long weekend.

As an LL6 I was frequently asked how many heads I’d need in the coming year as the last quarter drew near. This is the time of year when upper management starts planning the coming year’s budget and we had to make a case, based on current and future projects plus maintenance, for how many people would be needed. Also, as disgusting as sounds they’re probably trying to figure out if they have enough resources after the layoffs. As an LL6 I was never asked for input about who would be let go.

Upper management (I.e. LL4 or higher) already asked my (former) LL6 how many heads he needed come January 1st!

It can be in December like they did for the Agency folk in 2020. They derive happiness while ruining the Christmas and new year vacation. It can be very tough to get a new position until March.

Probably too soon. They need time to re-org, determine new group roles/responsibilities, then proceed with next round. Are we still chasing the Conway project from GM.? Or emulating Tesla\stellantis

Next round is by the end of October according to a source from HR friend of mine. It seems HR overlooked to target some divisions with more headcount reduction. There was a lot of lobbying from most ICE divisions to have more time to revise their payroll and ID candidates, they got an extension until end of October.
It is expected that many LL2 and 3 with 30 years in service will leave with a golden parachute as well as many depts will be merged into one.
Basically, the Under Body Systems Div will merge all Automatic Transmissions depts into one and will fire more personnel who were "protected" in this round.
Director is expected to switch to Linamar as Global VP of Engineering and one of the chief engineers will start working for Schaeffler as Ford Liaison due to close friendship with current Account Manager. One manager has already a gig with Dana and another Manager is already in talks with another OEM to work as Executive Director for eTransaxles Manufacturing.
All big fishes are already looking for opportunities outside Ford since they are next in line to be asked to leave, with golden parachute but still leaving.

I did your little H1B search and found only TWO Ford employees in Dearborn, both getting $86,500 a year. So what? What significance does it have to the current situation?

If you really heard it. Was it from someone above your role or was it your colleague?

From the meeting yesterday, it was evident that the leadership gave an unofficial heads-up to the employees that they need to work harder and not complain about up-scaling their skills(work beyond capacity and take the same pay). There may be a few slackers who should be worried about it (since they never worked hard, to begin with). But the rest of the ones who always delivered are now expected to deliver more.

Dear Ford leadership, if you really are reading these forums, it is time for you to realize that in addition to all your strategies to save the finances, you could cut down your pay too. That is what leaders do. Oh wait, this is a family-run business. Never mind, I'll see what my supervisors planned for the team about burden sharing and if it is something I can't justify with my salary, I'll thank my team and find a better role.

Dear Ford resources, please try to look up the industry averages on glassdoor, indeed, fishbowl, etc., to understand what the industry averages are; know your worth.
Tip: an international friend told me that you know what they get paid by looking up H1Bdata where you can put in their title and their employer (agency they work through) to see what they get paid. Sry international employees, it is on google so there's nothing new I shared.
