Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Finally the stressful week ends.

Atleast now the people who were lucky and not laid off, work hard and do the best to deliver the best quality project.

Work hard for an announced 75% bonus. What company says we won't pay you for giving the best work? The logic is something to believe.

" die like Studebaker or American Motors" and Kmart and Sears Americans are done with us. Just take a trip outside SE MI.

I'll say it one more time.....

The lucky ones got cut with severance! The unlucky ones get to stay and continue to ask "am I next?"

Anyone that thinks those cut weren't talented, hardworking people are out of their minds.

The mass hiring and firing program is exactly what GM has done for decades, and it works incredibly well. The very moment they start with the hiring, I tell my colleagues this will end badly. It's the same playbook, just with a different automaker. They'll keep what they want, and discard what they don't, or at least what they consider obsolete.

Some of the best advice given to me was to start a layoff fund. Not if, but when you get laid off, you will appreciate it. After noticing a significant pattern in my career, I took it to the next level. I decided to permanently create an income to rival their salary income. Should the job go away, it won't matter one bit.

"...work hard and do the best to deliver the best quality project. "

I was let go this week and as I reflect on my two years at Ford, I cannot remember a single time that any person I encountered or heard about, didn't work hard to deliver the best quality work in the shortest possible time. I don't believe there is anything more the non-management salaried folks can give. I saw many poor decisions and inefficiency coming from management. They are in charge and we work within their system. If the system is not working, we are powerless to fix it. If they won't then the entire enterprise is doomed to fail. Its not my problem anymore, I'm persona non-grata. I do hope Ford succeeds but I won't be surprised to see it die like Studebaker or American Motors Corporation if current trends continue. A business model of intense hiring followed by a massive layoff every few years is not sustainable. From what I have read, that's exactly what Ford has done for the last 15 years or so.

Work hard if you were not in the recent round? Why, they have already decided who is next; better to jump ship while you can. This way you can get back the lost wages from the lousy 2.8% merit fund while inflation is running at over 8%.
