Go price a Ford they are premium with only 3/36 warranty they don't make a 50 mpg car either and too much electrical cr-p that no one needs

Look around America... Ford is non existent

@ 2doz only a FOOL holds Ford stock in their 401k

Rethink that idea, since a lot of your 401k is based on Ford stock.

Given the quality issues, I wouldn't buy one anyway, even considering the current circumstances. Neither of our vehicles are Ford now. Traded in our escape because it kept having issues with Sync completely bricking. I'm relatively sure every vehicle we have out right now has a recall. Other brands are definitely offering more reliable cars right now.

Not to say that other brands are also having issues, not sure if you saw the Toyota bz4x EV or whatever it is that totally flopped due to quality issues, but seems like the frequency is less at other OEMs. I've not recommended anyone to buy one in a while, and just about everyone I talk to who did has had issues.

Ford doesn’t make anything special or unique. @OP can easily go thru the rest of his life never purchasing another Ford product. Other manufacturers have higher quality more reliable alternatives.

We just bought a Ford this week. Heck of a deal, and a nice vehicle. If opportunity presents itself, I'll pursue it. I don't live my life to eliminate opportunity for myself. The company is irrelevant to my satisfaction in life.

Ford is doing what all corporations and automakers do. You needed Ford to put food on your table. Ford effed you, and now you are bitter. Rightfully so. So, do something about it, and make Ford irrelevant to your life ever again. By that I mean, make all corporations irrelevant to you ever again. Most of us have been there, done that.

So, how did I accomplish making my corporations irrelevant to me? Your results and methods will vary of course. But, I decided to go where the money was. I learned how to invest in stocks. Not amateur invest, but I put in the time to teach myself how to make real and significant money, money that rivals any salary. Not guesswork, but actual mental work. So I do this on the side, while I take a salary from my corporation. They purchase talent, and I use them for their paycheck. At the end of the day, I'm accumulating a respectable nestegg sucking off the Golden Goose, a nestegg that isn't possible while working for corporations.

F*ck these corporations. Learn to eliminate them from being relevant to your life. Find your gig in life, and pursue it - while double dipping on paychecks.

@OP. I understand the anger, but you are just hurting yourself. Anger will make suffer, will affect your health, your family, your life. Stop it! You probably were not laid off because of low performance, so you'll find another job soon, and I hope it will be even better.

If you are feeling hurt because you gave a good chunk of your life to Ford, because after all your efforts and good work you were let go, learn your lesson. Sh!t happens! Dedicate time to your family, your spouse, but don't dedicate your life to a company that is not yours: just do what you get paid for. Nobody says in their deathbed "I wish I'd spent more time working". Learn the lesson and move on.

Don't let emotions cloud your judgement, specially with economic decisions. I don't drive a Ford, never had, because I prefer another brand. I would not recommend buying Ford now, but just because of the recalls, not because of my employment status (or lack of).

Take care!

Now that I'm SIRP'd, I will not ever purchase a Ford/Lincoln vehicle again. New or used. And I fully admit that it is because I was let go.

As far as going back, the 'never again' clause did feel like a kick in the pants to me. As ridiculous as it sounds, if that clause was NOT there, and I were to have seen an available position that I was qualified for, I would have applied for it. I wouldn't do it for a contract role, but only for a blue-stripe direct hire role. And if re-employed, I would have moved on from most of my SIRP feelings. And probably be comfortable buying a Ford / Lincoln again haha. But in that scenario, I would not be so naive again to feel 'safe' for a single moment.

Never work for Ford again clause is just the lawyers words. I know people who were called to come back on contract. They were called because they had the experience and knowledge. They were let go in 2019. I have been terminated this time. If they call me back for contact work, I would go.

"I am reminded of all the people here complaining about how the exit letter says ‘you can never work here again’? They’re going to apply all the time in the hopes of getting back in. I agree, they better have a Ford ready to pull into the parking lot so their coworkers don’t key their cars."

We complain because we don't understand the reason behind this "slap in the face". If we were fired for poor performance or stealing then it would make sense.

As for applying again, Ford obviously has a database and if one applies, they will look up your name at some point and discover you were laid off. So if the clause stating you cant work at Ford again is important to Ford (would not be there if not intended), then reapplying is pointless because we wont get it. We all know that so your comment is also pointless, thank you.

I was cut but I can't make this pledge because:

  1. I've loved Ford vehicles all my life and I know there are many great people still at the company making those vehicles. They are not responsible for me being selected so why make revenge against them?
  2. If the vehicle that best meets my needs and expectations is another make then I'll buy it instead of a Ford. Ultimately, the best product (price and all factors considered), wins!

But being one of those cut, I do understand the anger of the original poster. I get it.

I’m conflicted. I was let go in SRD and chose to retire from Ford. In theory I agree but as a retiree who still has friends there I don’t want to see Ford tank. In addition I still get a decent discount plus incentives to lease another Ford when I turn in a lease. With the exception of two vehicles I have driven Fords since I was young and never had problems with any of them. The two imports that I owned were unbelievably expensive when it came to routine maintenance and repairs. So… do I spend more than necessary to own and maintain a vehicle or do I purchase another Ford?

I retired so I am not bitter, but the recalls and major safety concerns (fires, coming to a dead stop) are my show stoppers. I attribute this to the knowledge drain at Ford.

You are bitter now. You are speaking as if you will key in every ford vehicle you see. The show will go on even if you don’t buy a vehicle. Don’t worry. You still need to drive and own a car. Go and spend your money elsewhere. Do you get a guarantee that you will not be laid off if you own their vehicle? Grow up and realize that you are just a number in a spreadsheet any where you work until you invent something and save billions of dollars.

You don’t have a bronco or a mustang @honda or Toyota. Ford is unbeatable in the pickup truck , first responder interceptors and the muscle car segments.

I worked on the S650. Helped design new touchscreens. I will just buy it used so they won’t see the profits

I vowed never to buy another F vehicle back in 2011. Way overpriced, even as a management lease, and just full of recalls and problems. No thanks.

@zyv - Be glad you didn't start back in the 1980's then. You would've been happy if all that happened was the paint being keyed. Still, it's a pretty juvenile thing to key or otherwise damage someone else's car over some imagined affront.

@jgy You must be one of the jerks who keyed my Moms car when I started at Ford as FCG. My mom let me drive her car until I could buy one. The first signal I should of never started working at this place was my moms brand new Subaru was keyed. Welcome to Ford.

Can I buy a used Ford were the profits don’t go directly to Ford? That’ll show em. I’m mad and I’m not going to take it anymore.
