Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Charles in charge

The Charles in Charge TV show ran for 5 years. Great show. They had zero consent orders during that period.

I predict that Charlie Scharf has a 5 year run. No new consent orders. He won’t be fired. He’ll leave because supply chain issues will get so bad that he’ll lose access to his amazing grey hair dye

"Charles in Charge" was a horrible show and now that awful song is stuck in my head. Please don't do that again, OP.

The company contradicts its own policy. "We're better together", yeah unless you're an underwriter and they can't find people willing to come to an office, then we're better WFH. Or some tech jobs. Or countless other quiet exceptions to the stupid policy. It's absolute nonsense designed to drive attrition. That's the only reason for the policy. If they actually said that, I'd respect them. What I don't respect is liars and smug NYC types pi----g down my back and telling me it's raining.

@1hlt+1iqesL7k Sounds reasonable. However none of it contradicts the approach I’ve said the company is taking, or the advice I gave.

Also, “RTO”isn’t really your specific problem given your previous WFH status, location strategy/hubs is. They just rolled them out at the same time bundled.

Best of luck.

I worked in office for WF for a long time, the I was 100% WFH for several before COVID and am a top performer. I don't really care what other banks are doing. I perform at a high level and have the ratings to show for it. Going to the office is a complete waste of time in my role and location.

@1urf+1iqesL7k You realize Wells is as soft or softer on RTO than our comparable industry peers, right?

Many of them have been back in office 5 days for months. Meanwhile we are largely 3/2, with many who still haven’t had to return.

Not going to be the guy who says “be glad you don’t have to go in more”, but if working from home in perpetuity is your goal, you may need to look for a smaller company, fintech, or different industry to have confidence in getting it, especially as power in the labor market starts to shift.

I honestly think it’s more likely we get more days in, or at least more enforcement of current approach than more flexibility to work from home in the future. Not what I want, but just being a realist.

At this point I'm praying that the asset cap will be lifted. Not because it'll be a great thing for the company, which is would be, but because it will mean we're one step closer to getting rid of our horrible CEO. He can declare victory and move on and take RTO with him.
