Severance

Has anyone attempted to get a
lawyer to review and pursue higher severance?

Take the money and gtfo of there. Run as fast away from them and never mention the word Ford again. Don’t sell your sole to the devil again!

I consulted with the firm that handled the last lawsuit. They said Ford won't negotiate that part. You have to go after age discrimination, lost wages, etc. assuming you needed to go back to work and can't get a comparable job. For many people, including me, it's not worth the dragged out process and giving up a sure chunk of severance cash to possibly lose that plus the cash I've already lost in my lump sum. There are people though in much worse positions than me with not having age 55. That law firm is meeting with a lot of people right now.

I was fired in April. Signing that waiver did not eliminate your right to sue for any illegal activity on Ford’s part, but it did eliminate the right to profit from any such suit.

Pretty unconscionable terms to be asked to waive your right to sue if wronged (especially if details come out later showing illegal actions by the company) or state your mind in public forums.

You are essentially fired. You can’t negotiate a better severance. You are either walking away with the offered severance (after signing the waiver) or walking away with nothing (after refusing to sign the waiver).
