I stopped going into the office long before Covid. Got real tired of being accosted on my way to work by those considered left behind by society. Was Accosted on the train. Having to walk in the street because the sidewalks are lined with tents. Besides, due to the pandemic many of the good suit makers and the inhouse dry cleaners have all closed shop. No thank you. I’ll continue to work wherever I can get good Wi-Fi.

There is one branch of WF in SFO that is particularly awful. There’s usually someone sleeping in a literal puddle of human ur--e a foot and a half away from the Business Specialist’s desk on the other side of a picture window. The ammonia stench of ur--e was so strong it would make customers gag when they had to sit at that desk.
"World-class dining" (or at least the outdated reputation of; I didn't think SF was anything special at all) over rampant violent crime and homeless filth? 💩
Ok then.
Forget the big city. I’ll take the town of Mayberry with Ma and Pa Kettle as my Neighbors. Though, I will keep up with the city slickers and continue to remote in over Wi-Fi.

SF with the "homeless problem" but world-class dining.
Minneapolis with mini Baghdad where you freeze your ar-e off half the year.
NYC where people are rude just to be rude.
Or bu-------k backwater America where you have to deal with reds and the attacks on women and freedom.
I'll take world-class dining in a forward-thinking state any day of the week and twice on Tuesday.
I don’t think I can RTO. Just thinking about those creepy cubicles in Minneapolis gives me the chills. Always disconcerting looking around And seeing colleagues staring At each other because of the low wall cubicle open concept policy they implemented years back. Also, imagining all of us are on the phones at the same time was unbearable.

Like I said in previous post. Blame the 1965 immigration act that removed the cap. Big city RTO should require additional hazard pay. I recall colleagues taking the train to SF having to wear gym clothes, then upon arrival changing into the business clothes.

Taking the Light Rail into downtown Minneapolis has gotten bad. The Cedar Riverside stop especially. It's like being in Baghdad.
There are several genres of people to watch out for. The chronic mentally disturbed homeless, the young blakc criminal element, and the arabic denizens.
Walking from the train stop at Government Center to either of the big WF offices is bad. Even in winter when you hustle straight to the first possible building with skyway access it's bad.
That’s right. All the bigwigs are in NYC and Charlotte. The rumors were true back in 2008. WF didn’t acquire Wachovia. Wachovia acquired WF.
SF is the fake head office. All the power players are in NYC and Charlotte these days with very few random exceptions scattered elsewhere. I honestly don't know why they don't shut down most WF buildings in the bay area. The current executive team clearly doesn't want to be there, and they are slowly reducing the relevance of the operation in that area. To them SF is an unwanted reminder of the old corrupt WF.

Agreed. Lingering near the construction workers adds a layer of protection on the way to the office.

I walk by 5 sleeping people every morning I come into SFO. They sleep over the grates where it is warmer and sometimes have blankets but usually just have jackets or shirts to cover their faces. (I get in early) I also see homeless teenagers walking around going through dumpsters at the same time. This is me walking from my car to market street. It smells horrible and the only reason I feel partially safe is because construction workers are coming to work at the same time I do. The streets are usually just washed and the sidewalks havent been washed yet so sometimes I see torn up rats and a lot of defecation and ur--e. It's quite dystopian and really sad compared to the dotcom days.
SFO here. When gangs of black kids start ki----g 80 year old Asian grandma's and the media hides it and countless other cases, something is wrong. Who wants to work in a city to that doesn't protect their elderly and covers it up countless times.
Financial district streets where the WF offices are in San Francisco are not lined with tents.
Sure the worst street in the Tenderloin, the one they show continually on Fox News, is. All cities have bad areas.
But in the business district? You might see panhandling, but that’s it.
