Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Even though farley said the words, we are done, I don't think we are. When are the next cuts coming?

There’s no room for cuts in my team as they took out like multiple experienced people and rest of us struggling with less people!

I would love to see voluntary packages, but based on recent comments by upper management, I would say the chances are slim to none. Maybe if they don't get enough people submitting retirement paperwork soon, they'll change their minds?

If it is true that some areas were given an extension on cuts through Oct then there still may be a small amount of cuts to go before the end of the year? Hope not.

If it is true that they are looking at packages it seems they would need to be offered soon considering that working past Nov 30 as last day of employment will not be advantageous for most.

Offering packages in mid Sept with acceptance no later than mid Nov and last day of employment being Nov 30 - might work. Who might get those offers, LL+, or uaw salaried areas under bargaining agreement??

For the poster who said "Good until end of the year. They're looking and packages and early retirements now." What is the timing for these? Leave by when?

I was hired by Ford in 2000. The first mass firing of 5,000 salaried workers was announced during summer of 2001. There have been periodic mass firings since then. They're only done "for now."
