Yes you need fiber but you can lease it to keep things moving along.

We have 27 nodes and 4 macros waiting for VZB 1fiber. It's been 3 years now and we are STILL waiting! the 4 macros were built, just sitting there idle waiting for fiber! So now were are told all 4 sites will get Microwave links because the VZB 1fiber is 5 to 8 years out. The 27 small cells will be coming over the next 3 years. 20 of them are built... meanwhile the other carriers are building out in normal timelines. Time to get rid of VZB 1fiber and go back to BAU! It was a good idea, but it failed.

Typical nonsense from Hans non telecom management team. This is why the stock is down. The market knows that too many people like the OP and his protection work here now, and not enough who actually understand this business and how to make money at it.

Really?? How would you backhaul 4/5G traffic? VZB is not able to hit targets in a number of areas and now are leasing df from third party where they are unable to build, which depending upon the area can be extensive.
Someone needs to do a little fact checking regarding VZW network backhaul before making blanket statements that VZB/VZ only solution to DF needs - VZB has not only failed to deliver in some areas, but has also hampered VZW's ability to use their own existing DF and Networks/systems - so yes they have slowed the buildout in some rather large areas and continue to do so while delivering next to nothing other than red tape as well as layer upon layer of Project Managers to manage non-delivery. VZB "solution" at least in some areas has been overblown, costly, burdensome, and even after 3 years running delivered next to nothing.
OP comment was not ignorant, to the contrary pretty much on the mark for parts of the country, as to commenter "wondering how you got a job...", pretty much wondering the same thing about them...
