Unemployment benefits after SIRP?

Unemployment benefits after SIRP?
Do you qualify even if you signed the SIRP waiver? Asking for a friend 🤩 saying they know people who were separated and after receiving the severance lump sump applied and received unemployment while searching for a job! Can anyone confirm this please?

I will apply for unenemployment starting on Sep 1st and so should everybody else. Let ford protest. The purpose is to create more unnecessery work for Ford. The people who got let go should create more unnecessery work for FMC.

Ford does respond to unemployment claims and will protest during severance periods.

The package clearly states that Ford will protest unemployment if filed before the severance period. Some states are exempt and will ignore the companies protest. MI isn't one of them.

So many replies with no answers to OP's question. I think the question is will Ford really protest if you file for unemployment before the severance pay runs out. FOR EXAMPLE, IF YOU GET 6 MONTHS OF SEVERANCE, BUT IF YOU STILL APPLY FOR UNEMPLOYMENT WITHOUT WAITING SIX MONTHS, WILL OR CAN FORD STOP IT?

If the situation is suitable, what about not to sign it,
and sue Ford?

Why not try to find a job after your severance runs out, or during your severance? 11m job openings 6m people looking for jobs. If Ford cut you and you’re unable or unwilling to try to find another job in an economy where unemployment is at a recent historic low of 3.5% then it says something about you and maybe it was in ford’s best interest to separate you. Seriously folks, all of us are skilled and talented and should be able to find work either in the auto industry or somewhere before resorting to unemployment. Stand tall and stand proud.

I was let go during SRD and my paperwork explained that Ford would contest unemployment if I tried to collect during my severance period. After that you’re eligible. With any luck at all you’ll have another job before severance is exhausted.

You can pre-file for benefits, I believe. This way, after the end of your 9th month, you would get $362/week unemployment for up to 20 weeks.

Yes, your friend would be eligible for unemployment the month after their equivalent severance passes. So if they got 9 months severance, they could file for unemployment after 9 months has passed. Because they were involuntarily separated, aka fired.
