BNYM paid me more than one of these 3 places mentioned by the previous poster. If you are stuck doing the same cr*p over 15 years no wonder your pay did not change much. No reason to think that other places pay better. They may have been better organized than but the pay strategy is relatively the same. I work in IT.
JPM, GS, MS pay almost 4x our salary
If BNYM wants to quadruple my salary then I'll come back to the office 5 days a week

I'd say partly because they know that making IT people RTO to have Teams calls with people in India makes no sense, and also because there's a good job market right now.
I’m not talking about production support… that’s dummy work. I’m talking application architects in distributed systems… the brains not the brawn.
Tech and ops are the two groups I’d avoid at all costs. Even if they have more flexibility with where to work, the systems and infrastructure probably frustrates them the most, not to mention godawful management.
Gimme a break - a very small % of tech is on call production support.
