Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

EM and Disability

Recently resigned from EMHC (BTW, the Job market is hot) but wanted to share some observations.
Many company Kool-Aid drinkers will say the opposite happens. And yes the MOH system is abused.
But I'd say at least 25% if not more of NI and NSI folks had some form of disability and many supervisors used it to tie to PDS reviews.

One of the comments I heard in the pre-rank meetings were "they have too many doctor appointments, are they even going to the doctor?"
Some laughed while I actually said that's not funny and got a weird stare and the meeting carried on. Yet HR told us to not hold pre-rank meetings.

Unfortunately I later found out she was NSI'd and they took the PIL. I would not be surprised if she took some form of legal action.

I chatted with some peers at the refineries and the consensus was that PDS review results had a lot of inconsistencies compared to previous years reviews and really leaned toward behavioral items as a grasping at straws practice to rank someone lower.
I mean after these past couple years who hasn't had some form of behavioral issues!!?

Anyone else have a similar experience?

75% of all facts are made up. I’d say.

A few years ago, one of my co-worker who never does his own work convinced my section head (his buddy) that I should take on additional work he was responsible for. I was so overloaded that I was starting to have signs of carpel tunnel. My doctor and MOH said I needed to back off. Fearing an OSHA recordable, my supervisor pressured me to say that my condition was due to an off the job injury and not related to work. Also during this period, a close family member was admitted to the hospital for cancer treatment. So I simply took my laptop with me to the hospital on multiple occasions and continue to work. I learned to use dictation software as a work around.

Pre-rank meetings routinely occur in many Global Business Units.

Most definitely true. I have seen time and time again someone’s illness being used against them - even though they were able to do their work. Some even find a way to use the illness of a relative to ding an employee.

I know someone whose step son had some mental issues and ultimately took his own life. She was reeling from the stress and ultimately had to take a week off. Before she returned, she received a call from her supervisor asking when she’ll return. During the conversation, her supervisor mentioned he knew mental illness runs in families and can be genetic. He was concerned about her having a nervous breakdown and how it’ll be hard to give her certain projects because of that fear.

Obviously, the supervisor mistakenly thought her stepson was her birth son. Regardless, she didn’t correct him. She was shocked speechless. How can someone be so callous and stupid?

I believe she ultimately went to HR about it, but nothing was done. She eventually left the company, but I never forgot what happened to her.

Without a doubt it goes on. They tell you one thing about caring about you’re health but come ranking time it’s used as cannon fodder. Sickening to say the least.

No. She resigned on her own a month or so ago and sent a long email about the whole thing to everybody.

If it is who I think you're talking about, Baytown?
That girl sent out a scathing email out to management and a PowerPoint on how to be better before she left. She was a rising star according to all the I&DP articles on LI and on the intranet. Shame honestly
