Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

WFB Upper Management lied to Small Bus Lending

Was told 2 years ago that Underwriters would be working from home permanently. Had us come down and pick up all our stuff from our desks. Today they sprang it on us that we are going back to the office. 'Business needs' changed and we should be glad it's only 3 days a week.

Such spineless liars. They are going to lose a lot of underwriters being that other banks offer full remote underwriter positions.

And? I was under a WFH agreement and Charlie clearly said all such agreements were CANCELLED. Why would you be special? Seriously don't you people read the stuff they put on the Our Workplace page?

No sympathy here. I Never thought it was fair that underwriters were allowed to be full time remote when the rest of us (especially those who were WFH full time before Covid). Have to RTO. I was an underwriter and it is not a specialized skill that required such privileged treatment.

Start your own company. You can let all your employees work from home.

FRTO. They really really don't want to pay severance in a down loan market, so they will motivate you to quit by forcing you back into the office. Such horse S. All WFC employees in NYC should be fired immediately.

they told us the same in home lending. So far no changes but on all of the town halls all the big whigs keep plugging the "it was so great being in the office with everyone face to face" and "we will look to have mandatory in person meetings/training events" lines more and more.

So, what exactly do underwriters underwrite these days if there are no originations? Probably want to be thankful you are still employed during these times and that's probably what management is thinking.

Actually it was this regime. There were underwriters in multiple areas that were told they would be permanent work from home when return to office started again. Remember back when operations was going to go back first, and then they swapped the order?

They use words like "permanent" pretty loosely. It's only permanent until they decide otherwise.

well now the mortgage industry is shedding underwriters as fast as they can... so there now is a skilled labor pool for them to hire from... so no need to sweeten the pot.

Seems those were promises by the old regime. New regime equals new promises. You must be new to the company?
