Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

I’m retired. Lately I’ve had emails from “ENGAGE” a new health app, apparently supported by CVX.

Is this something that Chevron is promoting for employees and retirees to manage overall healthcare or is this something that “ENGAGE” is trying to promote and lure you in by using the Chevron angle. I’ve no idea whether CVX is actively promoting this. Any thoughts….

Retired 18 months ago, living in Houston area. I also have been receiving those emails from Engage and I don't see the usefulness. Only thing I can think of is it would open the door to a barrage of health quiz emails.

@lbq, Yes, that could be true in some cases, but not here since the so-called "snarky bitter" comment you are referencing is from a happy retiree who doesn't view others misery to feel better, which is a bit deranged.

There’s a mobile app called “Engage Wellbeing” which is an Anthem Healthcare app. If that’s the app being promoted, it does not pertain to me or perhaps most retirees outside of California.

I haven’t received anything from anyone including Chevron about the Engage health app. And I’ve been retired for 6 years already. I first heard of Engage from an old colleague recently, but I couldn’t comment on it for I know nothing about that app. I only use Via Benefits, the third party administrator for Chevron post-65 retiree healthcare. So far I’m very satisfied with how Via Benefits have answered my concerns and questions. But, whatever Engage is or does is a mystery to me.

for first commenter, maybe retirees want to scan site and view snarky bitter folk like you and feel better about their choice and no longer being around whiners and carpers?

Perhaps retirees read this site to get a laugh out of the still working sad sacks complaining about nearly everything.

@xmt, 1) Unfortunately The Layoff is about the only unfiltered source of information, good or bad, on what's going on inside Chevron, not the sugar-coated stuff we see on the official webpage. 2) Don't be so smug, remember that it was our generation that invented the internet. We gave it to you, not the other way around.

It aggregates benefit information like deductibles.

I can't help but wondering why someone who is retired would not only be trolling a layoff's site but also be thinking that it could be used as a reliable source for info of any kind. Is this the first time you've used the internet?
