If I initiate my pension will my supervisor be notified?

Because of the freeze on people moving I was working for one supervisor / manager and my original group was getting all the notifications. Either way I informed them all I was leaving on x date. I was being a responsible employee and keeping communications open. When I got SIRP only my new supervisor called me to say thanks for all the great years of service.
Off course they will notify your boss.
Use the resources available to you.
I was thinking of retiring, so call NESC and asked to speak with a retirement specialist. This was back in June. One of the questions I asked is when would my boss notified.
They said he would be notified right after I
filed retire.
I filed to retire end of Oct, pension to start Nov. 1. I informed my boss on 8/##/##.
I was let go at 8 am on 8/22. Almost missed the call because it was sent early in the AM. I normally log in at 7 - 7:30, but logged in later.

What's the big deal OP if they get notified. Do you think someone is going to be able to file for retirement and disappear without their management knowing?
Yes, they get an email. I applied to retire before telling my supervisor. An hour later he called me to tell me that he received an email telling him that I applied to retire. :)
And they get notified if you cancel it which I did when the 8000 rumors started. Guess what, I got SIRP’d which was the best outcome for me. Like the titanic, some were not so lucky.

Even if you don't officially pull the cord, they get notified.
