Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Anyone’s manager completely useless?

Sets up endless meetings to feel important, loves to hear themselves talk, micromanages like it’s going out of style, and waves around their useless spreadsheets and PowerPoints but couldn’t make an important decision to save their life.

And this type never seems to get laid off.

My manager is worse than worthless. We get a lot more work done when he's not around.

He's a former IC, very extroverted and "well liked" by higher managers for no other reason. We suspect he's having an affair with one of our co-workers, but they're careful and haven't got caught yet.

I discovered that I can wear my supervisors down. Just become BFF with everyone else you work with except your direct supervisor.Be as difficult as possible with the individual, but do exemplary work. No one will know because everybody else will like you.You will eventually wear them down and they will leave. It works for me As I’m always more popular than my direct supervisor.

So tired of Sol Gindi emails. Just another clueless outsider. Someone should take away his p-m-poms. He’s not convincing. Just not sure why the phishing/spam email button doesn’t work on him. Been pressing that button every time I get an email from him.

My manager is a cheerleader for Saul and talks about the diversity and women in tech and then lays off folks on the team or increases offshoring. Goes around the country and world on boondoggles and became the poster child for Saul and his diversity checkbox and has done really nothing.

My manager is amazing but extremely overworked by everyone up his reporting line. It’s ridiculous what they dump on him

I haven’t had a motivated supervisor since the Wachovia merger. My current supervisor talks just like Ferris Bueller‘s teacher. I’ve never met someone so lethargic in my whole life. I’m sure the supervisor is a nice person, but when are we going to actually hire real leaders, as opposed to, lethargic managers?

Both my actual manager and my dotted line are awesome, as is my two-up manager. Other than that, I don't have anything very nice to say.

Our unit is full of micromanagers who have no idea how things work, don’t listen when you try to educate them on that, and don’t even try to fix the underlying issues.

I am guessing it comes from the failed Chase management team in the nosebleed section as many at the manager level have been here several years but trod upon by the upstarts over their head.

Mine is so hungover most days his favorite line is “Morning is not my best time”.

He was was always a drunk, but since WFH it’s obvious the drinking starts every day at noon. He used to have to stay sober most days until five, but now forget about it. He’s useless all day.

But he’s a good old boy so he’s protected.

The only decent managers I have ever had were based out of Minnesota or Iowa. Pragmatic, to the point, no BS, treated directs like adults. Boy, I miss those days.

My Club Chase manager sounds drunk half the time in meetings.

No. The only manager that I have had that sucked was a Wachovia manager for two years. He was fired. The rest, including my current, is great.
