Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Doomed

Hiring a failed CEO from Ericsson should be a great move for VZ.....allot of former Ericsson employees are laughing and saying we told you so. Hans will ride VZ all the way to a cliff. Then get a golden parachute!

Verizon without MCI = CenturyLink (formerly Qwest)

Thanks to MCI's huge internet backbone (thanks to UUNET), Verizon was able to compete at all. MCI was one of the best things to happen to Verizon besides Ivan plugging for FiOS. Those two things, the internet backbone and FiOS are what kept Verizon from becoming just another failed local provider. It's just then we got management that couldn't control their impulses to buy buy buy whatever was stupid to buy and to pay the highest prices for it. And now we are paying dearly.

Not 1 company but 2 that he ran into the ground and gets to walk away with a 40 million dollar bonus to do it. It's criminal.

Probably should remind everyone that VZ wireline is partially made up of failed MCI WorldCom. Part of this company has failed and bankrupt share holders before.
