Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Begging on Stage @ IMPACT

It was embarrassing that JP was begging on stage for everyone not to give up on Collaboration. Next year it will be JP begging not to give up on Security. JP is overrated and has only destroyed Collaboration. Expect the same for Security.

Agree that the old high raking employees and management didn't put the strategy for Collab. But when JP came - he has been assign to take this business forward. He invested alot in Collab. In fact, Collab team added hundreds of features into the product. but couldn't put a good strategy to integrate the product into Cisco and outside. JP is very over rated. He can be good product manager but not a senior leadership position to put a vision and strategy to build next gen product. Cisco still keeping it as a standalone product. I don't know why. unless Cisco can come up with a clever idea to integrate the product like MS teams in E5 license. it will be very big challenge to sell it as an siloed product.

Wondering how Executives like JP still in that position to lead a sinking business. For lower level employees one escalation email from a customer is enough to get into the layoff list in next cycle. Looks like at Exec level there is hardly any accountability. Well, can't blame - because this is Cisco

Stop blaming the new guy for what empty Fellows, VPs and DEs did to the businesses over many years. It on y’all

What amazes me is how this ELT is totally asleep at the wheel. JP managed to tank Collab and Security, two high-growth markets. The guy is at best a junior product manager (check out his LinkedIn posts, it's mind boggling) yet this ELT keeps him in place.

Collab has total management turnover every 2 years. Everybody is just in it for the money and cashout.

I used to work in Collab years ago. Cisco totally missed the boat with Webex and the pandemic. They could have crushed Zoom with very little effort.....I couldn't figure out why they weren't doing anything back in 2019. It would have been so easy and wouldn't have damaged their precious Enterprise base. Oh well.....snooze and learn.

Why did he have to beg if collab is doing well

My 86 year old mother knows what Zoom is and she has never heard of WebEx.

I am a Sales Specialist in U.K. I can confirm that WebEx is a dying business at least in this market. This is visible in the attrition in relevant workforce. Several collaboration specialists have moved away in recent times. A particular heavyweight go-to person for collab resigned couple of months back opting to go for a startup.

Whereas there are glaring and unaddressed issues here in the U.K. related to the SE management ( as mentioned by some other posters) which are contributing to the attrition, it is the business and numbers that are also major contributing factors. Nothing I have seen or heard in Vegas has given me the confidence that there is any ray of light at the end of the collab tunnel. Watching JP “begging” indeed scared the he-l out of me. As for security, we are getting shafted by Palo and Forti for quite sometime while Juniper has started eating into wireless business with Mist.

JP is genuinely clueless. His insights on LinkedIn are nothing short of embarrassing.

Cisco bought IBM’s network business many moons ago and it is time Cisco part ways with the security business at a premium price. JP’s new crew is sinking the security business like the titanic at an alarming rate.

@ucj+1ixiqyZE How can one be at such a position inside of Cisco without being arrogant? Name one such person, any geo, any org inside of Cisco who is not arrogant . Arrogance and psychotic tendencies are default required qualities.

Most of these people are overrated. We have this experience almost on a weekly basis in the U.K. The desperate nonsense that comes out of the SED and his trusted SEMs here are ludicrous. If only they gave all these lip services to the customers instead of trying to insult our intelligence on tiresome internal calls, then maybe that would get reflected on the revenue. Fact is, they do nothing to generate business . All they do is bully the SEs around, unnecessarily cause chaos and disrupt the flow of business. And as a payback, the company promotes these clowns every couple of years.
