We3 to EMHC?

Rumors swirling that more offices are getting taken out on campus and more desks and “hot desks” like WeWork

True?

When?

Why??

Amazing how an Executive can make decisions such as WE3 that totally destroys employee loyalty.

Destroying workforce loyalty by implementing WE3 suffering just to justify her own huge office and $3 million per month pay.

Maybe one of her goals is also high attrition.

The leasing out of Campus is being pushed by our new hire CFO.

She is trying to push this to justify the $18 million compensation in her first 6 months at EM.

Goto/we3

I have also heard mid2023 and to lease out ~1/2 of the campus. LCS is currently participating and can confirm up to the director/manager aka JW level they are participating.

I work in wellness and am not participating in we3.

WE3 required to create space for the employees of the company that EM plans to buy out.

Exploration not going well outside of Guyana so EM saving up money for a buyout.

Guess who we are going to buy.

I'd be shocked if XOM actually leases out a building (or more) on Campus. 1) it admits failure in the campus design and we know XOM never admits mistakes (just blame the contractors). 2) The MC are moving in. 3) There's no big pretty tree to look at.

To make things worse, the company will not just be honest and say why they are taking the We3 approach. It’s masked under bs buzz words which no one believes.
Making it even worse is the select number of employees who talk about how great We3 is both to upper managers and on platforms like yammer hoping to gain favor from the overlord’s.
Another cycle of dishonesty…

WE3 is a tool to accelerate attrition.

Older people offended and leave.

Reduce operating costs in square footage and in average salaries of the employees that remain.

At least you will be able to sit in your We3 desk and enjoy a nice beverage through a paper straw from the cafeteria now. There is nothing so satisfying as the taste of a drink mixed with soggy paper. With as many styrofoam cups and plastic lids as we go through, are the plastic straws really such a concern at this point?

The buildings are 1/2 to 1/4 empty right now. No interim large scale moves are being allowed as the higher-ups know that large scale change is coming. It is inevitable that we’ll go to hot-desking/ high density seating.

I hope the campus recruiters mention this when they sell the company along with lifelong careers and all the other benefits which have been reduced in the past 20 years.

Sounds like exxonmobil should claw back some stock from whoever made the decision to leave Greenspoint, Greenway Plaza, Brookhollow, etc to build and then expand such a massive campus.

Answers:

It's true.

When? Mid 2023 with the EMHC restack.

Why? To save money on commercial real estate upkeep. Plan is to shutdown or lease out 7 of the buildings on campus in order to reduce the per employee footprint to less than 160 sq ft/employee. They could definitely do something less draconian, but they're comparing the US to gbcs and our relative real estate utilization stats are comparatively bad because those locations are already we3. They don't care about morale impacts.

Logic doesn't matter. Someone can put on their accomplishments for the year they saved X$ even though the lost productivity and morale ki---d by We3 far exceeds any savings on paper.

I have heard this too. This We3 strategy is odd to me. This would be an approach to utilize when you have more people than desks, but that is clearly not the case now and will certainly not be the case for Houston in the future. So this only makes sense if you close down or lease out some of the buildings thereby forcing the more people than desks scenario.
