Seriously I’d like to get out of this hellhole… I’ve been told to avoid Citi like the plague. Which bank is actually decent to work for or is it best to completely get out of this industry?

In the top 10, the least s..y bank, ironically is BNYM followed by PNC.
Reasons : both have strong franchises led by solid CEOs. For BNYM in particular , Charlie’s misdemeanors have all been cleaned up and a thoroughbred GS Ops head who actually left GS on his own is at the top.
In the good but getting bad by the day, you have MS and GS.
In the always the same, it is JPM and BOA
The rest : bottom of the barrel. Don’t need to cross check this : I have worked for 5 of the top 10 banks and left Wells only 2 months back. I think Wells is the worst currently in the top 10.
Citi is hella ghetto. Prepare for your entire support staff to be based in india
Whatever you do, do not, I repeat DO NOT try BNYMellon. Chainsaw left it a s***ho-e and it still has not recovered.
Any insight why Citi has a bad reputation?

From a worker perspective Wells is far better than BOA or Citi, but managers are coming from those companies and bringing their ‘ways’ with them. BOA had great benefits when I was there, but that’s it.
Try USAA or SVB
You can try Ally, but it all depends on which department you work for.
The guy I reported to was a micromanager from 700 miles away.
Wells is much better than BofA from my experience also.
