Thread regarding Ford layoffs

What frustrates me the most is the lack of communication

A little more transparency, if nothing else, would help employees to part ways with this company without feeling bitter about it. Perhaps those who got cut would somehow accept all the injustice, but it is hard to accept that they got cut in such an ugly, stressful and inhumane way. Don't we deserve a little more transparency?

@OP - The treatment of employees is clearly diminishing daily!

Ah, yes, communication. They ALWAYS talk and survey about how they are and want to effectively "communicate" yet they get a giant FAIL when it comes down to actually doing it. Employees hear things through the rumor mills, or read it in the news, LONG before hearing it from the company.

This thought process for elimination is going to come back and bite Ford in the bu-t! The younger generation is NOT loyal. Not all of them are hard-working either! Many come in believing they should be the CEO in a few short years.
You NEED good, hardworking, loyal people to do the work. And, nothing against outsourcing, but many I have worked with who are providing the "outsourcing" are not very stellar at performing the job duties required.
Ford was once a premier place to work. Not anymore!!!!

I pulled the lever last year. after 34 years I had enough. The company is nowhere near what it was when I walked in.
Jim is worse than Nasser. At least Jack was blunt. Farley is a snake. He is not transparent despite what you hear him tell you in those THs. He tells the press & investors we have too many employees in NA then goes ahead and hires the replacements in Mexico and Brazil.
On top of that they keep Europe open that has been a pit long before i hired in the 80s. But their excuse is that is a market we need to be in. and we need people from that area to understand the markets. So then how do you explain cutting your most profitable market and staff it with people not familiar with it?
am glad I am out of that place. shorted the stock a few times made money. Remember this it was the management above an LL5 that let things get out of control. Not the GSR/LL6 They do as they are instructed.

Bill Ford and Jim Farley are classic examples that shows that Rank does not mean you know what you are doing.

Agree with the post. I worked 30+ years for Ford...saw many layoffs and several different ways the co. went about informing people. Some had 6 months to pass their knowledge on to others. That's what hurts the most that I only had two days to get my affairs in order and the shock alone made me just give up on trying to pass anything along. It's sad that 30 years of progressive experience was just tossed away and nobody seemed to care.

Yes we do. As just fellow humans, we do deserve that. You are right. Basic human kindness matters.

@OP Totally agree!

I've been with Ford for many years (>30), and I understand I'm an easily replaceable cog in the wheel, but I was never treated as such until the last few years. I have been and continue to be a loyal and productive employee (you can even ask my wife ... CDB) but also realize the generation replacing me has a different outlook on employment and loyalty (rightfully so). Not sure where I was going with this ;-) other than to say I too wish for a bit more transparency.
