They're losing more age discrimination suits than anyone is remotely aware of. I know, they settled with me earlier this year.
There are many, many more lawsuits working their way through the multi-year process and given enough time, some of them may eventually be leaked to the press, despite being tightly wrapped in NDAs.
Not one of my friends or family felt that I could win an age discrimination lawsuit against IBM, but that didn't stop me from contacting a labor attorney to discuss my case. While my friends and family still think their "legal advise" was spot on, I know different.
Morale of this story: talk to an attorney, it could be well worth your time,
