Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

PIP should be abolished

PIP? Its more of a musical chair event rather than a development tool that our cunning HR peeps likes to call it. The consequences could be either we leave a long time employee unmotivated and because he/she is unable to leave his/her current job or we keep sacrificing young members hoping that they make the numbers so that less explaining is done to long time employees. Its a stupid system that has been abolished by many other companies. Even GE that started this whole thing has abandoned it. Honeywell still relies on it for better differentiation as it claims it should. Yeah, right. I do hope that a sensible leader does bring this up and challenges such stupid notions with the Karens that is trying hard to keep it

@1xwe+1j13upys said it perfectly.

The whole 9-block process is antiquated and the associated PIP with quotas (shhhh... HR swears quotas don't exist) is a demoralizing farce. My PIP was a complete fabrication and my knucklehead manager admitted as much by his low bar for completing the "remedial" process. It's just a crude means to save a couple of bucks on salaries at the department level.

Where is the leadership on this? Lol, they are complicit liars. Aero town hall, MM was directly questioned about PIP quotas, where he denied they ever existed, as did the Aero Karen.

The quota system for PIPS (and rankings) is blatantly unfair and unethical. For this to change, everyone needs to complain about this, including managers and directors. Where is the leadership on this issue? They are cowards. No one should be forced to make unethical decisions.

Eliminate the people who affect the matrix and get our loyal employees to cover the positions that were eliminated. The company makes more money and dividends increase too.
This tactic works. It increases the matrix and since you want to get promoted you would cover the extra workload. If you don't you will be PIP next, so keeping policy in place increases productivity. It also weeds out the non loyal people. Isn't this cool?
It's also a quick way for you to learn how to be management when you turn on each other and get each other eliminated so you can get promoted and get a bonus. Really puts a smile on corporate face and they will notice you.

@2gpt

Maybe not everyone shares the cowardly beta mentality that you do. Pushing back on BS PIPs means you have a spine and are not afraid to use it. If you disagree then you are more than welcome to live the rest of of your life on your knees...

It's like you are looking for something to have your feelings hurt over. If you know that a PIP is BS (and we all do) and that it's just your turn in the barrel, why would you even care? A decade or so ago folks would be shocked if they got PIPed. They would be embarrassed even humiliated if their coworkers found out. Now it's just a big shrug your shoulders and roll your eyes meaningless event. I agree PIPs should be eliminated but my reason is that it's just a big waste of everyone's time.

They talk about code of conduct hum isn't PIP just like it as stated above how they treat an employee putting them on it.
