Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

New Health Care Plans

High Deductible Broad, is same as Bronze. It is the only plan that includes network and non network providers. A little more expensive than last year. A little more out of pocket. But mostly the same as Bronze.

The two other plans, select high deductible, and select low deductible, are only a "select" number of providers. Essentially a little like an HMO plan.

Sadly there is no Gold or Silver if you even want to pay for low deductibles and low co-payment for "in and out" of network providers.

Sleazy HR AVP in briefing today said it is for efficiencies, read: cost savings for management employees.

You have a few months left. Go now and get all your and your family's medical visits/tests/scans/prescriptions/other stuff you need or don't need before the new plans take effect.

People who are bi-----g about AT&T plans have no idea of what others are paying at other large companies. My brother-in-law works for Glencore whose revenues rival AT&T. His family plan cost Jim’s $220 a month with a $4000 deductible. My wife is on her company plan as a single and her costs are jumping from $71 per month with $650 deductible to $112 per month with an $1800 deductible. Health care costs are rising significantly and companies of all sizes are passing them onto employees. AT&T is no different…the grass is no greener on the other side. You people are delusional

When comparing the non-HMO plans be sure to check if your dr takes it. My drs do not participate in either select plan, only the broad plan.

I retired Oct 2021 in Michigan.

My 2022 BCBSIL silver plan for individual is $140/month with $2K deductible, $7050 max out of pocket with 20% co-insurance.

2023 plan equivalent is High deductible Broad for $125/month with $3K deductible, $7500 max out of pocket with 30% co-insurance.

So lower monthly premium but higher deductible, out of pocket max and co-insurance for 2023.

Not ideal but it could’ve been worse. The company is cutting benefits more and more every year.

No surprise billing? What a joke.
So you're in the ER barfing last nights supper, peeing on yourself from the Stone Pair and asking to be shot with a 45 or AR15 to put you out of your misery.
The only Doc. available with the required knowledge strolls in and confirms a Kidney Stone and asks what insurance ya got? You answer "AT&T UHC" and he says "I'm not in Ntwk" and before he walks out (because UHC believes Stones are not emergencies - btw, I've gone thru this) but tells you sign here and I'll treat you. At this point you beg to die but sign the statement that you understand and 4 mos. later you get the Out of Network bill from 3 Docs treating you and since the Docs are Out of Network, so is the hospital now. Enjoy the $35,000 that you are responsible for. Don't trust anything at&t or the Govt. claims. When they say, I'm from at&t/the govt & I'm here to help ----- R.U.N.

Its really hard to believe anyone thinks the healthcare insurance offered by T to its employees is even remotely accetable. Stankey and Santone have done an excellent job of bamboozeling employees, gotta give them credit for that. They've taken a Ford Fiesta and advertised it as a Lincoln Navigator then sold it hook, line, and sinker! Please consider nominating both of them for a huge bonus.

I remember when SBC terminated the contract with the best insurance coverage in the world Blue Cross Blue Shield.
Then SBC made a big deal about this new customized health insurance managed by UHC called "The SBC Custom Care Plan" - $5.00 co-pay and watched as the co-pay went up, deductibles went up, services became not covered. Ed & Randy bought at&t and a few baby bells along the way and the insurance changed (for the worse) along the way. SBC/AT&T has not had true leadership since Zane Barnes. Ed, Randy & now John has run this company into the ground. Been a few tweeks over the last 50 years- all for the worse and really, I don't care as I'm retired on Medicare A&B getting the $2700 subsidy which will probably disappear for 2024, but under Donald Trump I'm now worth millions even as Dementia Joe destroys the economy. Just means less to leave charity when I die. I'm just here to enjoy the comments and laugh as this company goes belly up and express how glad I am that I was able to leave for much greener pastures a long time ago & importantly still young enough to brag! Cheers!

In network hospitals can still have out of network specialists walking around.
The new legislation forbidding "surprise" billing, passed by the Democrats is supposed to fix that.

"This year, those changes will include improvements to medical, dental, and vision plans that are based on your feedback. They're improvements that provide you more choice based on your unique needs and lifestyle, so you can focus on what matters most to you - but they're a lot different that what you're used to."

Allright, this makes sound like we asked to pay more for less choice and coverage. Were anyone of you asked to provide feedback?

Not much of a choice at all. Received mailer on the medical plans. It listed medical providers for my family, only one of them will accept High and Low Deductible Select. There is a serious shortage on providers, changing doctors isn't a realistic option. Company has this data, it is literally printed on the mailer. Choosing the best plan for your family is a joke. This is company is run by id--ts as it treats employees like id--ts.

"A little more expensive than last year" is misleading. My monthly premiums will double in order to keep the same coverage, and the OOP Max is going up. Please continue to tell me how these new plans gives me more choice & value.

Hey @vnq. Your correct that Govt workers get excellent HC paid for by us taxpayers.
However the single, most best, covers everything, free, no-deductible, no-copay, sky is the limit fully paid health care coverage is provided to ILLEGALS. They show up sick, go straight to the ER and are treated like DICTATORS. Broken fingers, sniffles, coughs, cancer, stones, stroke - you name it - treated, released, no billed.
Thanks to Dementia Joe, Communist Democrats and paid for by us taxpayers that actually pay income tax and property tax.

Seems like the two plans with no out of network coverage are very risky. When someone is in the hospital very ill they often cant ask if the doc is in network. In network hospitals can still have out of network specialists walking around. I don't get it.

I called benefits today & was told the plans are available to be viewed on line for a few weeks? The best health care plan is given to Police & teachers. We get the shaft.

“ Workers don't know how good they have it”.

I am so tired of hearing (probably the same person) talking about how great the management health care options here are. Do you have no friends or family that work literally ANYWHERE else to compare it to? It’s expensive, Gar-Bo coverage, and it gets worse every year.

And I get that costs go up and that our company is floundering due to the many executive leadership blunders over the last decade.

Just stop peeing on my leg and telling me it’s raining. 54

Workers don't know how good they have it. Company pays the increase year after year. Now workers have to pay a small share of the health cost.

If you're young and in good health, you will save on lower monthly premiums.

If you have a family, or getting on in years, or have chronic health issues, you will pay more.

Just do some simple math on employee demographics. How many of your colleagues are single, young, and don't need medical care?

The "Silver" deductible went up, but the premium went down to easily cover the higher deductible, and that doesn't include company HSA matching.

I was originally pi---d, but OK after doing some math.

Actually, not bad...

What did you expect? T is in horrible financial shape. The free cash flow is drying up. You can expect to pay more every year going forward for your healthcare insurance. It didn't have to be this way, Stankey made it that way.
