Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Good place to start, get experience and then leave

I had a really great time here and I'm happy that I got the opportunity to gain some experience and make new connections. However, is it worth staying longer here?
My opinion is that it is not worth it, because the pay is not adequate, while climbing the corporate ladder is almost as a rule reserved only for pretenders, backstabbers and brown-nosers.

I am prepping really hard to GTFO. Great experience, no doubt, but someone mentioned below, im a person who is a heads-down gets s**t done. BUt, yea, can't and won't brown nose my way up, I guess thats why im stuck, all my fault. Well, come new year, i am so ready to get out. Goodluck to all who are trying to get out. Hope you get what you want

I love this company but I hate this management...

I recently left after 9 years at Nike. Best career decision I’ve ever made. Doubled salary, fully remote now. Life is good. Nike looks amazing on a resume (it took me two weeks to secure a new job via LinkedIn). As said below, it looks bad on a resume if you stay at one company for too long (you become a “good Nike employee” but not gain other skills). Best of luck !

Get what you need from Nike and then get out. The longer you stay, the skills you develop are more along the lines of 'how to work at Nike' rather than building marketable skills you can take elsewhere. As said below, if after 5-6 years you aren't seeing promotions and career growth then its best to get out before you become stuck.

Pretending and Posting - that'll get you ahead at Nike. If you're heads-down, really working and not constantly trying to self-market, self-promote, brown-nose with the right crowd; you'll get passed up and overlooked.

Yup. Great place to get some experience, and it does look good on a resume. But if you’ve been at Nike for 7+ years and haven’t been identified as a “leader” in the form of at least two substantial promotions…your career isn’t going anywhere. Besides, you often have to switch companies every few years anyway to see substantial salary and position increases. The days of staying at one company forever and hoping for the best are gone. In fact these days that’s a liability if you have any interest in advancing your career.
