Thread regarding Cenovus Energy layoffs

How could this company get any worse?

After the reverse takeover by Husky we are now stuck with Husky mgmt that basically destroyed their own company and are now working at running Cenovus into the ground. What makes it especially painful is Cenovus mgmt is just sitting down watching it happen with d-mb looks on their faces. The VP of HR left for a reason, the second one to do so. There is no doubt who runs this place and it’s sure not Alex.

Legacy Husky Senior Leaders do not listen to the people that perform the work or the supervisors. If you are not a yes man, or are a man, you are not listened to or promoted. $afety is not number one at any legacy Husky site. Profit over protection. Legacy CVE employees that I have met walk around with fat heads thinking they know more. The little fish (CVE) are the big dying fish (Husky) and is now choking to death.

We heard less bureaucracy and driving decisions down. We were looking forward to that. All I've seen is 100 time the bureaucracy and so many useless meetings that progress is stalled.

Cenovus is so woke, they will go broke.

This company has lost its soul. I’m leaving to the next equivalent opportunity that comes up. I don’t want to be associated to people that leave these comments about anyone.
Looks like legacy Cenovus staff which is typical

Why are people crapping on GA? Pig or not a pig. Irrelevant.

I remember her inhaling two slices of Michaels Pizza back in the day. Honestly, Who can do that? Just devouring it and going back to work. Normal people would be in a carb coma but not her. Credit where credit is due. Just so fat.

GA wouldn't eat anything in front of us during lunch events but she snuck an entire tray of leftover Spolumbos sandwichs that was left in our E7 floor kitchen. No clue if she ate everything on the drive home or she fed the family for a week.

True story: I once saw GA eat three pieces of cake at a celebratory party while at Encana.

Straight to the thighs.

Cenovus staff. What a joke!
They are the real tools. I tried to work with them but too arrogant and they won’t listen. Time to Clean house

@Ryan, if you dislike working with people like GA so much, why are you still with the company? Are you waiting to be packaged out?

To be clear Alex is only paying you to perform at a P50 level so if you take the rest of the time to complain that seems fair. If he wants a better attitude pay better.

Currently work for CVE. When I was with EnCana at the time of the split, we were aligned with the Facility Integrity group. Their data coordinator (G.A.) instructed all of her data techs to not interact with us post split. There was a company-wide mandate that all information had to be separated by XX date. We moved all data from the Foothills Division to Encana Corporation in MaxiTrak. GA blew an overweight fuse and sent out several e-mails stating that that action (which was laid out by corporate) was now "under investigation". She had both companies lawyers involved and it reached the VP level. Everyone laughed at her. Lawyers, VP, Team Lead, Group Lead, Data Technicians.

Cenovus people are difficult.

The post below is accurate. CVE staff have had a chip on their shoulders ever since the ECA split. It was embarrassing how Cenovus staff acted towards their former colleagues so to see the distain towards Huskey folks isn't surprising. It's like two elementary schools merging into a Jr. High school. Some are more intelligent and mature than others.

Here's an idea: how about instead of spending all this time complaining about individuals who came from legacy companies and ridiculously thinking that each person from the 'other side' are the whole company they came from, you focus on working together to make things better going forward? There are fantastic, competent, brilliant people and leaders from both legacy companies. THIS IS NOT HARD, stop being such petty miserable sods and focus on the future and getting the work you're getting paid HEAVILY to do, done. It's not hard to not be a jerk.

Not sure what y’all were told at Husky - but your comment is the EXACT reason the company is going downhill fast. The Husky folks are treating this as if nothing has changed and just plow ahead the same way as always. If we are going to be successful EVERYONE needs to change their mentality.

Well if anyone was wondering how it could get any worse that question just got answered for you. Cenovus is going woke. If you self identify on workday they will use that information for future decisions. So your self identification will impact your career going forward in the name of diversity?

The old owner is the same as the new. It is structed slightly different, but it has not changed. So might as well get with the times. Also, the company should not have cut corners and changed the company name as it is clear people are still attached to the old way of doing business. According to HBR this helps the new company move forward as a single entity and breaks old mindsets, which from reading this form, are clearly still present and not productive IMO.

Husky went down the drain for a good reason- poor management. Husky people should be all doing support roles only and should not make any key decisions. Enough is enough.

There’s a reason we don’t see any employee surveys lately. The mgmt knows people aren’t happy here with their P50 pay rate while expecting so much from everyone. I get texts and emails from my manager on weekends and at night and you don’t dare not respond. I haven’t seen our VP ever, and I mean ever, walk around on the floor except if there was a meeting accidentally booked on the wrong floor then it’s a quick in and out. Alex talks a big game but he’s full of it.

Seems like every legacy husky refinery has a habit of burning down to the ground and the 'expect respect' campaign is entirely targeted at legacy husky sites where the behavior is shockingly immoral. They termed 1000's of LHSE staff... didn't go far enough if you ask me.

Definitely something up with AP. He hasn’t been himself since the “merger”. Culture and morale is worse now compared to Ferguson days and the Husky leaders behaviours are appalling and inhumane.

Just look at the Husky track record of refinery fires and pipeline spills. Not one of their mgmt should have been allowed over to CVE. Alex never was in this for the long haul and he’s ruining Cenovus on his way out as Jon lines up to replace him and then it’s done, we become Husky with a different name.
