Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Branch Layoffs

I heard that in Q1, things will revert back to Wachovia’s branch model. One Licensed Banker and one service banker that will also be a trained teller. Why is this not being discussed in important calls or podcast?
If you are going to lay me off just do it.

Branches are super hood. Would not recommend unless you’re recently graduating and desperate

Please do yourself a favor and just find a different position/career outside of retail banking. I did 6 years as a banker and around year 4 realized I was working at a glorified McDonalds, and a complete thankless dead end career path. Not to mention the mental toll constantly dealing with the disgusting public face to face takes on you after a while. 3 years ago I switched from retail banking to mortgage processing/underwriting and it was one of the greatest decisions I made. The grass IS greener. No more suit, no more standing around mindlessly in a bank lobby pretending to make myself look busy, no more safe deposit box cr-p, no more dealing with id--ts that can't manage a checking account filing fraud claims or asking for fees back, no more dealing with dinosaurs that can't adapt to the modern way of digital banking flipping out on me because they don't like change. Yes, yes, I am fully aware interest rates are sky high, and I can be laid off any minute now yada yada yada. However, as much as I would welcome a layoff to take some time for myself and travel etc., I am tied to my current employer through family. If I get laid off, that means things got really bad.

I am an Associate Banker, A Teller, A branch Designee Manager as well as a Notary getting paid $1.00 more than a teller. I have been here over 16 yrs and very frustrated that "my job title" is the only one that can be a teller or a branch designee. I will not receive a raise for having to take on all these responsibilities. I was told I will receive praise not a raise for this. After all of this I'm getting coached on processing more credit applications because I am not doing enough. SMH...ITS A JOKE!!!!

The branches are ghetto. You should look elsewhere.
