Back office Inefficiencies?

Please comment with your opinions.
In WF, I’ve been a part of several teams where I have been required to find my own tools, request my own access, find my own support in order to do my job. In my opinion, I think this is very insane and inefficient. I recall, I was completely off-line for over two months when a manager asked another team member to try and complete an access request form. Of course, the instructions provided were incorrect.
Has anyone else experienced the same issues? Poor leadership? Thoughts?

I've had to request my and my team's accesses for years. Even when I on boarded into another LOB that have dedicated admins, it still took me coming behind them and cleaning it up. No building access on my first day at a new site. Oh, they only asked for 1 of the 3 needed. I had to go into Guardian, then back downstairs to Security to verify if i asked for the right ones. Seriously? When 400+ in that LOB work in that same building and it's not done right the first time? Come on people, this is the easy stuff.

This same issue keeps happening to me. I used to be motivated in this company as I found something specific that I really enjoyed doing that made a difference. I’m too lazy to bail and find another motivated supervisor because I don’t want to go through the interview process again and again. My skill set is specific to the job that I’d like to do, but not being a professional interviewee. I just know that if I bailed, I wouldn’t get hired, again. So, it’s just easier to wait around, wait out management( as they always leave), collect my paycheck, collect my bonus, collect my PTO, and the other perks this company hands out.
In other words, I don’t feel I was hired to navigate all these company policies and obstacles that make it difficult to do my job. I consider myself a professional at what I do, and it’s the company’s responsibility to cater to my needs, else lay me off. I’m a gold miner. So, the company needs to give me the tools to find them more gold.

Thanks for the great laugh. I needed it for this Friday. Opening NSRs every five minutes is hilarious. Like I said, in an earlier post, The company is always finding ways to stick it to their employees. It’s in our best interest to send it right back tenfold. What do you call civil disobedience when it occurs within a company? Lol

LOL….I once managed a team that had access to a critical application mysteriously cut off. We were suddenly and completely paralyzed. I followed procedure by submitting a Service Request, which prompted an unsigned email from a from an unmonitored email inbox to provide more detail but no avenue for doing so and no contact info. I submitted several more SRs with the same response. Finally told everyone on my team to submit an SR of their own every five minutes for the rest of the day….within two hours a peeved-sounding guy called from India offering to help.

That’s correct. It was that way when I began with WF. No training and no support. This is why I went rogue. I push the envelope every chance I get. I come away clean smelling while everyone else points fingers at the company. It’s really easy to make the company the scapegoat. I really do feel bad for the company, but when you have lethargic leadership, what can you do? Yes, I could approach my supervisor, but they will definitely play CYA. There was a time that I was really passionate and motivated to succeed with this company. Unfortunately, the company has been sticking it to me for years, and I just send right back tenfold.

I have been involved with several projects with a goal of seamless onboarding over the last 20 years. Great recommendations ever time. They always die on the vine for the same reason. The crazy inefficiencies you talk about here are a buried expense spread all over the place. Fixing tools and adding staff to coordinate onboarding is a bottom-line expense number. Senior leaders balked every single time.

Welcome to Wells Fargo. It’s always been like that. I had to setup all my own devices, access, login requests, etc when I joined many years ago. It’s just how it is here.

This was the straw that broke my back into looking for other jobs. Because of course when you can’t get your job done due to all the changes and miscommunications it’s still on you

Yes, I constantly see horrendous results from any kind of access request or support request. These centralized teams that manage these things simply do not care. You can't contact a human being directly, when they mess up there's NO accountability, and everything moves super slow.

I was thinking of opening several trouble tickets and delaying this access issue for a month or two. Blame it on technology. I wonder if this tactic will get anyone’s attention?

Yes… sometimes access requests get stuck in an endless maze of approvals where none of the delegate approves know what to do or takes any accountability. May have to cancel and resubmit a few times

Administrative support is reserved for executives, not peasants.

I’ve had the same experience as well. Onboarding/access requests are excruciatingly slow and inefficient at WF. I’ve worked at a number of other firms on the street and WF by far has the worst support of all. We’ve had new hires on my team wait for months, literally months!!! For access requests to be granted. It’s insane!

Yes, same experience. I have been part of numerous reorganizations and have been on my own to get the access and tools needed each time.

Yes, the support is awful. That's a known issue.
