Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Okay Model e team, solve this problem:

A top Florida state official warned Thursday that firefighters have battled a number of fires caused by electric vehicle (EV) batteries waterlogged from Hurricane Ian.

EV batteries that have been waterlogged in the wake of the hurricane are at risk of corrosion, which could lead to unexpected fires, according to Jimmy Patronis, the state's top financial officer and fire marshal.

Well I'm not on model e - I can suggest a bridge rectifier circuit (filter) that installs in the high current load side of the power buss across to chase ground. This neutralizes any potential shorts or current jumps that can be harmful. Further, with high ionized salt water like in FL, the rectifier can be doubled in parallel to help mitigate the current shorts or spikes. Since Tesla's are not fully aluminum but steel frames, this solution has proven to be robust. If the chassis were aluminum, there are other filters that would need to be added as well.

Sad but true. Salt water and EV batteries don't play well together. The favorite solution is dry those vehicles off, ship them north, sell them cheap as used vehicles to unsuspecting buyers, and hope no notices. It's not new. The north has been doing that in reverse - sending flooded vehicles south - for years. Guess it gives new meaning to adage "buyer beware".

You mean taking 1000s of cells and soldiering them together is a bad idea?

Who'd a thunk it? 🤣

"Eight firefighters ultimately spent seven hours putting out the fire. They also used up 28,000 gallons of water — an amount the department normally uses in a month."

They don't need to solve it. They'll just sell another one. Catastrophes are a profit maker.
