Should we forget in-line promotions in Honeywell now? From the latest all hands seems like upper management is not going to encourage any in line promotions

There were many inline promotions at my site to keep the rats from fleeing the ship.
Unless you're a bootlicker, you can forget promotions. Lateral moves normally don't increase pay and are encouraged. Supervisory and first level management positions have been eliminated for years, so there's no stepping stone for talent to move up in the organization.
If you want a promotion, leave Honeywell. It's the fastest and best way to better pay and working conditions. I left 6 months ago, was promoted again two months later, and doubled my pay.
Why promote you? If they can keep you down. Keep your pay down. Thats the goal. Lowest pay to keep you where you are at.
Atlanta folks ran analysis that showed promotion actually encouraged early career engineers to leave. Retention was improved only by promotion to a different department… aka new job. That makes in-line promotion counter productive.
There have been no in-line promotions in years. All promotions are driven by one ulterior motive or another. Sometimes it is diversity, other times it is some kind of nepotism toward family, friends or persons of a certain nationality. Occasionally it is due to maxing out in your current position for a number of years but that is rare.
Just make sure you warm up with 10 -12 interviews outside honeywell as you begin to look for other roles. This will shed light on what honeywell leadership is doing.
Diversity. You want a promotion. Make sure you identify as the right gender, race,or orientation. Deadly serious here.. honeywell systematically considers gender and race when filtering resumes. Period. No question.
Well you have to apply for promo now and hope to get interviewed for it so wrong. What happened to giving it to well deserved employee and showing them respect for doing good job.
