Yes, because it would be much smarter to offer packages to those a company wants to stay. Get a clue. Packages are offered for one reason. The company's primary objective is to get rid of the costs of older employees and get younger. They cannot get rid of large numbers of older employees without being subject to lawsuits, so packages are offered. If you have carved out a niche for yourself and your management doesn't have a replacement, don't expect a package. If you made it known that you were leaving anyway, don't expect a package, unless you worked out a deal with your management.
