Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Will Lincoln be discontinued?

During the last economic collapse, Mercury was shut down. Could we see Lincoln impacted in the future?

It blows my mind how Ford systematically destroys every iconic vehicle.
The Lincoln Town Car was a favorite of retirees, taxi and limo services. It was roomy, had a good sized trunk, was comfortable, was safe, withstood harsh conditions and was known to tolerate excessive mileage like a champ.
Then Ford started to cheapen it to increase profit margins, sales declined so they discontinued it.

How many missteps can this company tolerate, and who exactly is listening to what customers want? Customers don’t want compact trucks, discontinue Ranger. Customers don’t want vans, customers don’t want compact cars, customers don’t want sedans, customers don’t want to carry keys for their autos ( they want apps), customers don’t want their own vehicle (they want to ride share AV EV). Ah yes the solution to everything is to add more cup holders!

Well, we are demanding that Lincoln dealers spend $900,000 to sell Lincoln EVs, sounds like fewer dealers selling fewer Lincolns.

We used to cancel vehicles that sold such low volumes.

Lincoln sells well in China. They build them there to avoid high import duties. They need to continue selling Lincoln to support the Chinese market.

The 2022 Corsairs and Zephyrs are brining back classy looks, I would not count Lincoln out, if Ford can survive.

"Lincoln sales increased 64. 5 percent to 6,968 units: Lincoln Aviator sales increased 71.14 percent to 1,927 units. Lincoln Corsair sales increased 231.39 percent to 1,985 units.Aug 3, 2022"

Not that I would ever buy another Ford, but they need to make the Lincoln brand classier looking again. That said, people seem to still buy them.

Bring back the all new Lincoln Continental as an EV. The gas version sold in very small numbers so it might appeal to collectors.

I thought people who retire from auto plants are Lincoln’s prime customer

They've been "reinventing" Lincoln for the past 20 years. Lincoln has become the new Mercury. Rebadged Ford's with a hefty markup. The time to cut bait is long overdue.

I disagree with Lincoln. Probably because I own an older one, but Lincoln could be saved, if, if, if the planners and management put a Lincoln top hat on the resources/platforms sitting right in front of them.

I like the current Cadillac lineup, and Lincoln could do that too (and save face).

Should have kept Volvo and shuttered Lincoln last time.

When that happens, all the management leases will have to be Ford vehicles…no “luxury” vehicles for them!

Lincoln certainly should be put out of its misery.

Lincoln is on the verge of collapse with sales being extremely down during the current year.

Not as long as Billy's in the big chair. Alan wanted to shut Lincoln down back in 2006-2007 and Bill stopped him.
