Prorating Vacation 2023

Yeah, that going to stop attrition. At this point, it has to be part of an overall plan to reduced US headcount and reduce the cost associated with that attrition.

The email came out today. To the OPs question, the intent of the policy change is not to stop attrition (remember corporate goal is sub 50k) but more to limit the cost when people leave in terms of vacation buy out.

Company wants people to leave and make sure the door hits them as they do (clawing away small benefits like unused vacation payout)

Getting vacation upfront was one tactic used to to get me to work for XOM. The person who recruited me also said they will bridge the difference between what my previous employer gave me in vacation versus what XOM can offer. But after I arrived, I was completely shafted on vacation versus the amount of overtime worked. There was also no acknowledgement of what was agreed to when I was hired. Supervisor limited the number of hours I can report on the nights and weekends that I actually worked on my timesheet. In other words, she artificially made it that I under report the hours that I worked.

While working overtime was required for business continuity... she would made it clear that policy didn't allow me to get paid for it. She was one of those supervisors they brought over from a low cost countries. It was all about penny pinching and how many of X did I do during the rank period, and checking off the boxes. She had no clue what I was doing but went so far as re-writing my PDS so it aligns with the story she wants to tell management. She had no emotional intelligence whatsoever but thriving in XOM management. Based on the hours I work to what I was actually paid, I would have been better off working for another company.

So glad that I got out of this company. I'm tired of the switch and bait, and being overworked and disrespected.

It’s not meant to stop attrition. It means they aren’t doing sh-t to slow it down but they are going to stop bleeding money they payout. They’re losing the best instead of the worst and this is a way to punish them.

Leave before year end if you can!
