Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

What would make ATT more competitive?

Some think that cuts are the only way for the company to become competitive.

I don't understand the down votes. Apple has staff in the U.S. to design their hardware and write their software. They're way more successful than AT&T. If you want a better company, you need better people.

They'd be more competitive if they had more American employees and stopped wasting money outsourcing and offshoring.

Make every employee track their time in WEBSTR. Surplus anyone whose time charged to Enhancing projects is below 90%.

  1. Get rid of the HORRIBLE "leadership" at every level. I put leadership in quotes because it's pretty hard to call managers leaders when they make one bad decision after another at every level. From level 1 managers on up to the CEO I've seen nothing but the most pi-s poor management and leadership of any company I have worked for.
  2. Get rid of the woke bullsh-t. All of it. I don't give a rip what color your skin is, what your s-x organ is, what your se-ual preferences are, who your ancestors were.... You keep that to yourself. All I care about is if you can do the job you were hired to do, and can you manage people well.
  3. Get rid of call center reps whose native language isn't English. I can't tell you the number of times I've spoken to ATT call reps that I can only understand every 5th word they say. When they hire a Mohammad, or Raheem, or Panisha make damn sure they can speak English as articulately as a natural born American.

Better service. You can't sell yourself as "Premium" and then have your customers place ticket on an online portal that rarely works.

Human, stateside call centers. You can't call yourself "Premium" then force customers to place tickets on an IVR that will hang up on them when input is not understood.

Billing that is honest, straightforward, and clean. Billing sucks at this company and it is intentionally vague to force customers to pay for things they don't want or need. Why, when you disconnect a POTS number, does AT&T continue to bill you the service fee on the LD, unless you tell them to disconnect the LD account?

These are all things I have complained about for years, offered suggestions how to fix, and have constantly been ignored about.

If only we could get workers to whine more. If would make us more competitive. Even if we just whined about the same thing over and over.

Only if we could get "Leadership" to avoid DISASTROUS decisions that cost AT&T hundreds of BILLIONS of debt. That would be pretty cool, right? Just tossing that out there..

Very, very simple. Focus on core competency…mobility and shed everything else.

AT&T needs better workers. Workers that know more than how to climb a telephone pole and connect a wire.

Too little too late.
T has seen its best days, it's all in the rearview mirror. T is on life support, won't be around in five years. Special thanks to Stankey and Stephenson!

It may be too late. Stock closed at 14.76. I am not sure the last time someone focused the many metrics on quality as opposed to get er done.

Get rid of legacy technology. More mobility and fiber growing. Debt being paid. Good price. We are on our way.

Pay down debt and buy back shares.
T-Mobile has very little debt and not too many outstanding shares. Stocks over $100.
T now has to compete while having huge financial commitments. T needs to catch a break. That’s not going to happen because we have no visionaries or techies at the helm.
I have two years left and off I go to work for a competitor.
