We have to realize that 'let it rot' is not rooted in individual employee dissatisfaction, but rather in the 'MW culture', which has systematically praised appearance over performance, and has systemically destroyed 'Chevron Way' behaviors.
-
Most white males, no longer with any chance or meaningful promotion or raises, have been doing this for all of MW's reign.
-
Most white males, bypassed for promotions, have been derailing their diversity bosses by doing nothing to help them, even when they see errors and inefficiencies.
-
ALL employees realize that social engineering is more important to the company than technical performance.
-
ALL employees, faced with no meaningful training program, are left to languish in their careers.
In the company's defense, most employees over 50 have been doing just this passive behavior for decades now. It was 'quiet quitting' before the phrase even existed. Chevron managers over 50 have been the perfect role models for this behavior, harvesting current benefits and perks while doing nothing for the long term benefit of Chevron. Perfect example is our 'energy transition', which is underfunded, mis-directed, and only serves to underscore charges of 'greenwashing' from the outside.
