Am I the only one who thinks we're safe from layoffs for a while? With cuts that already took place and the unprecedented attrition, I don't see that there's a need for more cuts any time soon. I might be proven wrong but until then, I'm going to enjoy the feeling of not having to worry all the time.

You are NEVER safe from layoffs. It's the one thing T does better than any other company, and the one thing they do as regularly as possible.
To the poster who said ACE layoffs are coming Jan 16, you are incorrect. Layoffs in ACE will be assessed after Jan 1, and based upon attrition and 1st Quarter results any layoffs will be targeted and occur after 1st Quarter. That’s exactly what ACE leadership has shared with employees and what my HR friend in Dallas verified a week ago. Stop spreading rumors and attempting to panic people.
Mobility cuts are coming. Last week Mobility Network ACE stack ranked all their employees to be prepared for January 16th notifications. Leadership has given us a targeted reduction number, waiting to see how many folks retire by EOY. No one is safe…..period.

Obviously we don’t have a huge amount of customers in copper these days but in the past fiber replacement has taken quite a bit of historical work away from the outside forces. And that moves and and throughout that food chain. Per Stankey in the last quarterly report they ran the fiber build hot in the 3rd quarter. Would assume they expect a ROI on the money that was spent.
For management, the surplus has already started, company-wide. Each BU has different dates; HR was off Payroll 10/6; Mobility, 12/1. My voluntary acceptance was selected, got my notice 11/1. Standard severance package as defined on HROS.
Via town hall of VP under McElfresh: 80% of presentation was about how huge cuts coming next year. Yes, there will be cuts. Many or few, depends on where you are and probably how expensive you are for the company. Of course, that last one does not apply to mid and upper management.
OP where have you been. High level execs have made it very clear in multiple town halls there is a targeted surplus taking place in 1Q2023
Dallas Network will lose 75 managers & occupational.
I’ve heard 10-11 percent from management from several engineers in the first quarter, depending on how many leave before then. Haven’t heard anything about craft layoffs, but they always keep that tight lipped until the surplus announcement dates that are set in the contrac(next one is 12/15).
Some layoffs already announced, more coming into Q1. Not expecting more than 5-10% which is normal. Nothing to freak out about unless you aren’t in a busy team or if you consistently don’t get high ratings.

Layoffs WILL happen in 2023. Those who can comfortably retire should do it.

I agree that the layoffs will not be as drastic as everyone on this site believes! Sure, we know there will be some reduction in head count, but most of us will make it through unscathed!
