Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Poor performers

Managers & supervisors are tasked with giving out "poor performers" to x amount of people. I doubt there's any poor performers even around anymore. However, they will continue to require an x amount of "poor performers" until they meet their desired headcount. They're tasked with having to meet the amounts, so it's just going to be favoritism as it always is.

Blame Chief Engineers for not having guts to stop Senior Mgmt from using Boston Consulting to identify those who should leave based on $ rather than contribution to Ford. LL3 and LL2 are pathetic, they just cover their rear and do not care about the company stability moving fwd. Gardner, Kennedy, etc. are a disgrace. None in UnSys respect them, they have shown their true colors by letting go great engineers who shave their ba--s many times. Thay have no loyalty, I am glad Filipe is gone, he was another useless leader wananabe.

Ford is not a meritocracy, I think we all agree on that point. This last round of pink slips, from the data in my group the criteria for separation was: White, Male, over 50 and pensioned. Nothing to do with performance.

Jac said "lead or leave". He encouraged contributors to quit, if they did not have future leadership plans at Ford. He also said "I am angry because I care". Each department was mandated to watch his tirade in large meeting rooms. There were videos of his employee meetings but the videos were pulled from the shelf at SRL library after this unhinged performance. He was asked to step down by BF a short time later.

Yeah, sounds similar to what happened in early 2000’s under Jac ‘The Kn--e’ Nassar. He tried to implement the ABC system from Jack Welch & General Electric….something like 30 % ranked top tier A, 40% ranked middle tier B, 30% in bottom tier C. Everyone was forced ranked, so that meant 30% of the people every year were considered ‘bad, under performing’’ - and were on the way out, as you couldn’t be rated C two years in a row

How else did you think they were going to cut the other 4,500 people to reach to goal of 8,000 cut by mid-2023 (only approx. 3,500 people let go so far)?

As i said before without a bottom there is no top.Top becomes a bottom
The problem with ford is when its management started to test the waters by small layoffs most ll's kept their mouth shut until it brought their downfall.
Now the top who thought they were the top , begin their downfall.

Well, it will start out like this. If you are under a pension. Expect your rating to drop to the middle. because that is what they will tell you. everyone in your grade needs to be in the middle they will tell you this. then you will get hit with the sub-par rating. That will be interesting to hear what reason they give! then comes the choice package or work plan to raise your rating. Remember it is not you look at the source. If they were so great, then why are we in this mess? Even when you do as you are told to the letter and in some cases overachieve it will not matter.
I retired in 2020. I look form the top down. We had a furniture guy tell us how to run an auto company. All he did was cut heads. The stock price never moved in 20 years he ran it. Now we have a guy who calls himself a car guy. Really last time I checked SCION was cancelled. Has done nothing but take credit for other people's work. Then Billy. Yeah, the train station. Just goes to show you did not learn when you ran things the first time now did you. Focus on Product. Not this BS pie in the sky star trek garbage you spew. WS and FREE PRESS start asking tough questions. Hold them accountable. the management has demonstrated they do not know how to execute things. Watch this investment into Tenn/KY for those three plants and the timing.
