Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Complaining about hot-desking? Really?

I have to wonder how many of you complaining about hot-desking were also the same people pushing for a return to the office because “that’s where the real work is done”.

Nothing snuffs the general hard-on that middle-aged men have for the office better than actually having to be at the office. You wanted it, you got it. Don’t say management is unresponsive.

Xom management sucks and treat the employees like sh-t but seriously the pushback for moving from assigned seating to “unassigned” seating where everyone still picks the same desk every day anyways so it’s basically still assigned seating is so ridiculous I can’t believe the words “I agree with management” are coming out of my mouth…wtf people it’s a damn seat at work just chill. Like there are so many other things to hate about this place and management and this is what you’re upset about??

Well, I agree with the post. I left the company when they were pushing for the return to the office and I hoped all the mo--ns who were complaining about remote will enjoy the stupid we3 bullsh-t. Now eat what your overlord gave you, boomer dogs!

@1bpp Inferring an awful lot from text, are we not?

I work remotely. That’s what happens when you have an in-demand computer-based technical skill. I’ll be spending the holidays working out of the Azores.

May all of you anachronistic, grey-haired, pontificating, self-righteous workaholics have a safe & happy holiday season. Enjoy the daily commute!

Fu-k off you hot desk suck up ingrate. People need some ownership and something to feel accepted and to be valued. That is NOT a "boomer" concept or any other generation concept. The company is treating people like sh-t and you are too steeped in the kool-aid to see that plain decency has left the building!

For those of you hating people that are older - you WILL BE ONE of the older people you are currently trying to harrass here behind print. What a spineless waste you are!!

Well you can share your desk but the person that decides to park in the spot I frequent will not enjoy themselves that day at all.

@zvm That was the point of the comment.

These are the terms boomer men think in, hence why they all want to be in the office. They’re upset because they thought they’d all be getting a private office while the “juniors” had their productivity harvested in cubical farms. Didn’t work out that way.

I’m not sure who you’ve talked to who had ANY say in the push to get back into the office. From everything Ive seen, it was pushed by executives far above our pay grade. My manager begrudgingly told us to get back into the office. He wanted to WFH just as much as we did. Must of us are now working in the office while he STILL works from home quite a bit.

Never found the EM office to be a productive environment - and thought the forced move from Fairfax to that monstrosity of a campus was an asinine decision. At EMHC, always worked in We3, was constantly interrupted / distracted by the “open” environment. Had to consistently clock 12+ hour days, just to keep up. But when I’d WFH (save ton of time on commute, security, and no interruptions!) I’d be under the microscope and chastised by management because I wasn’t there, scurrying about like all the other trained mice.

But what if I hit all my goals and run circles around my peers? Doesn’t my performance speak for itself…??

NO! Back in your cage! Logic doesn’t work here! You Will Eat Your Cheese (but not at your desk, this is a shared space!!) and You Will Like It! 🧀 🐁.

People were pushing to end WFH to get back to their assigned desk.

Having to go into the office daily to find a random unoccupied desk is so degrading that WFH is preferable.

Right OP because returning to an office with actual offices was not an option. Trying to link these two topics is ridiculous.
