@4pgc+1jD6zhNQ - Ford had NOTHING to do with destroying mass transit. That was a GM led conspiracy of GM, Firestone Tire, Standard Oil of California (through a subsidiary), Federal Engineering, Phillips Petroleum, and Mack Trucks and they were convicted in Federal Court of doing this.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Motors_streetcar_conspiracy

There were no built subways in Detroit either. Everything was vetoed so there was nothing for Henry Ford to fill in.

"It’s also interesting how Ford in the past intentionally destroyed Metro Detroit public transportation so people would be forced to buy automobiles." Shhh...Don't talk about how HF had the first Detroit subway filled in with dirt.

Let’s face it it’s all about attempting to line the pockets of a few while fleecing the masses.

It’s interesting how masses of people dispersed from the forced human concentration areas when they had the opportunity with government mandated remote work. And how desperate certain employers are to force people back into concentrated areas.

It’s also interesting how Ford in the past intentionally destroyed Metro Detroit public transportation so people would be forced to buy automobiles.

I remember as a youngster when electricity was brought to our farm. My child-like view was to believe the government and society were electrifying the rural areas out of the goodness of their hearts. I recall the adults wondering what it was they wanted from us and thinking how jaded they were. The week after the electric lines were strung here came the salesmen - electric washing machines, electric sewing machines, etc. After all the infrastructure was in place, big agriculture came first with polite offers then more persistent and devious offers.

Always follow the money and hold onto your wallets especially when old money is claiming to be doing something noble. The old money has a tendency to dup idolistic enthusiastic youngsters to unwittingly champion a cause.

The Ford family /foundation is the reason for all the past and future layoffs to come. Ford could break from the pack mentality of going green but no they are part of the enslavement of mankind via the 3 mile city plan where you don't need a car and can get anything you need within 3 miles. Look it up.

So in 2018 DF is pushed out of Tesla
https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/doug-field-tesla-former-model-3-boss-leaves-company/

Then is is supposedly ‘poached’ from Tesla by Ford in Sept 2021

And now he is ‘disrupting the company as the board sought him to do to transform this company. ‘
What a lot of tosh.

He is a failure inside ford as results show
By the time the f family realizes it, it will be too late!!

Doug Field is not part of the friends and family derogatory term that gets overused in this forum. He is an outsider and is disrupting the company as the board sought him to do to transform this company. And the results are showing, just look at the news on the atFord homepage.

These folks can only accelerate the bankruptcy. Ford will be history in few years.

@zyq+1jD6zhNQ 1st I do not put much faith anymore in the BOD at Ford. Pretty much friends of the family BOD. As one person posted. In reading Doug's resume, he sure did move around quite a bit. That is a concern.
@1gpi+1jD6zhNQ as for Allan unlike JH/JF and BF Allan had the trust of the troops. his vision and plan were simple and clearly understood by everyone. Yes, we sold JAG/LR/VOLVO, but you forget those were bought by his predecessors. The company needed to focus on one brand. he cut down the number platforms thus reducing our spending on multiple products. second You will find the family was pushing the purchase of those brands.
Toyota surpassed ford in the world. They are going into EVs nice and slow. their plan is to hit the market when there is a market. Inside 10 years Ford as we know it will be gone. Sorry Bill Ford, Jim Farley are not leaders or motivational. Doug Fields the jury is out but there are RED FLAGS there.

As with most of these figure heads comes a heavy dose of over confidence bias. But again, if you approached the board with cautiousness you would be viewed as risk adverse and ousted anyway. They act this way because it’s how they’re rewarded. They have strings and when the master is not happy they make them dance. Just some of the ills of western culture in business. Ever since the companies with eastern philosophy entered automotive we were doomed from that point forward. In the west, most especially in the United States, there is arrogance which eats away collectively on the domestic industry. Every 3-5 years another flavor of it and here we are.

To spite Mullally’s faults, he was at least better than what came before him and after him. Regarding DPS6, there was senior leadership that outright lied about the current state. Shame on Alan for not putting mo--s around the company to sack these leaders. Hard to say how much he knew about it, they may have buried it before it got up to his level. He only saw what 2 years of production? Was not in the board room so not sure how it was portrayed to him.

The DPS6 transmission was rolled out under Alan, give this some thought.
Alan didnt recall or fix this disaster of a trans used in millions of vehicles.
Alan could not fix ford. It is the same today there is NOooo fixing ford period!

@1gpi+1jD6zhNQ. Mullally was very good. He just had the problem of huge debt because the Ford's wouldn't accept bankruptcy. GM ended up better off having gone bankrupt.

Alan Mullaly wasn’t that great either. I think with selling brands and having the less vol higher price didn’t work bc Ford is in bad shape. If AM were great F sohould have had higher stock price, top 3 global auto producer, and use those profits to buy more businesses. Bill ford should have just sold the company take his money and invested in Netflix in 2005. F has no growth prospect…dead man walking…

@zyq Dude you think people respect the Ford BOD business acumen and abilities? BF installed bobbleheads. Look at all the foolish/ill-advised decisions that BOD has rubber-stamped.
DF is NOT a leader. AM was a leader.

DF is full of it, he is word vomiting Hacketts vision, which was BF dream.

‘ Field sketched a vision of future Ford vehicles "doing things your phone can't do," including an immersive augmented reality (AR) experience while moving.
The automaker is continuing to develop hands-free driving, or "conditional autonomy," and a more sophisticated user interface enabled by software and strategically placed cameras and speakers, Field said.
This will give Ford the opportunity to create "an experience that will blow people away and (make them) feel like they're in a science fiction movie," he said.’

—- sure yeah customers want all this. NOT. LMAO

DF should stick to video games

Doug Field is the key to Ford's company transformation with Model e being the crucial part to make the company successful. He will be in this position as long as it takes.

Have you noticed he is gaining responsibility at Ford? You should. That is a sign of confidence the board has in his leadership.
