Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

New California Law on Role Transparency

  • Starting on 1/1/2023 if you are in California they will be required by law to provide you that info for your current role if you request it.
  • The California law states any employer in California must provide it, so since we are a California based company I'm not sure if it applies to employees outside California, but it might.
  • I do find it very annoying they hide this information especially when they didn't use to.
  • With all there talk of dei and gender equity, pay is a big part of that so hiding this information is a slap in the face.
  • And don't let them tell you Workday doesn't support it, it does, we just chose to hide it.
  • Managers can see the range for their employees but not themselves.

Don't worry about the CA folks. They are getting rid of us. The old west Stage Coach goes better with Dallas.

Kinda funny how you don't see the direct relationship between all that "benefit" and the high cost. Oh goody, I can carry over more than 5 days of PTO, to bad a 2 bedroom in a S ho-e neighborhood cost me $1M.

Keep charging on Cali.

@1umz Pre-Wachovia merger, legacy WF offered more promotions and merit awards. Post Wachovia merger, Policy changes MUST have occurred. Because, I didn’t change, incentives just dried up. From what I recall, California, Montana, and Nebraska have more perks. California is pro employee, but you will be taxed to d e a t h.

Does California have anything in place to help the ambitious, or mainly just bottom feeders ?

For those wondering, this thread is salary-related. I love CA because many, if not all, employees benefit from its laws. It's the reason WF hates CA, aside from state's high cost. CA protects and supports employees. WF doesn't.

I've posted about this a few times recently. where I think it might apply to the whole company is that we are headquartered in CA. While HR won't give you the info today if you ask, they will have to on Jan 1. You could also ask your manager for the info. That is what I did last year when we moved to workday and he happily provided the range.

Employers are doing everything possible to game this law. They're terrified of this information being public.
