What Competitors are Better to Work For if Compared to EM?

I am sick and tired of the BS and I will move on. What do you think, is there a place where things are better?

It’s going to vary depending on your own situation, the world isn’t going to hand you a new dream job if you don’t even know what that might be. Put in the work to find a new role and eventually you should get good results. EM is still well respected externally, but don’t come across as a disgruntled low performer that is being left behind on promotions.

@1iqc Try applying and see how it works out for you.

If you don’t have an MS/PhD in a STEM field and several years of experience with front/back end and full-stack development and/or ML, you’re wasting your time.

No, they don’t need your “leadership” skills.

If you’ve been working in O&G for most of your career they will roll right over you. The deadlines are insane and the pace is even more insane. Everyone is the absolute best at what they do. If your idea of being tech savvy is cutting/pasting data in Excel and fiddling with macros, you’ll be miserable, if you even get hired, which you won’t.

Oh, and you’ll be reporting to millennial bosses and working with zoomers. These are progressive companies, and the typical O&G stiff is well-know for have problems with that.

Stay where you are.

Apparently LyondellBasell is.. we’re losing site head count to them weekly, offering substantial salary increases and a much better work/life balance. On a positive note, those folks are recommending others XOM coworkers to LB and they’ll be heading that way very soon….

Don’t limit yourself to working for a competitor doing the same thing. You will have more options if you think in terms of transferable skills that apply to other sectors besides O&G.

@OP None of them. Same turds, same toilet.

If you don’t want to deal with this kind of BS your only option is to get out of O&G.

What’s your definition of better? Better culture? Better pay? Better projects? It depends on what drives you.
