Do you still have to wait 12 months? Could I apply in Dec. given a lot of people are out on PTO and nothing would happen anyway until Jan. When I hit my year? Thanks for the advice!

WHY in the world would you have accepted a job at Wells Fargo? One 401K match per year? Garbage insurance coverage? Sketchy performance review processes? Incompetent spineless middle managers just trying to protect their jobs? You F’d up! You need to make a jump to a new company….but do so after 12 months. It looks weird otherwise.
If it is a position you are really interested in go ahead and apply early. Let your current manager know. Be prepared you will be asked why you are applying before your one year in interviews. - easy to answer if the position aligns with your career goals and you discussed with your current manager before applying.
If the manger wants to pull for you, it doesn't matter. Our Director was hired after being promoted 6 months before. It sure isn't becauses shes qualified. The whole team quit and left me.
Do it now but know we are not hiring much until the first if the year. Don’t listen to people that say 1 yr. It is the standard; however, you can bet it’ll take months so by the time ur manager knows, it wont matter. Further, sneak this into any 1/1 : I love my role and am excited for the next year of (fill in blank like learning more etc) but am looking for opportunities to move up. Something that simple can be relied on when they say this is unexpected, you say, don’t you recall i sd i am looking for opportunities? bo-m. mic drop. and leave!!!
Post early. Don’t wait for the 12 month mark. It will take time to find a position, interview and take care of any required paperwork. Inadvertently, it’ll free up a lot of your time as your current manager will lighten your workload. In other words, no point beginning a project you can’t finish. Then, again, if you stuff envelopes, you’ll probably get more envelopes of stuff in the meantime.
