Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

AXG anyone?

Anyone had any news about AXG? We've only heard we're going to be later than other orgs.

Intel has conservatively spent (wasted) $4B trying to enter discrete GPU / Accelerator market.

In accounting/finance, this is known as 'sunk cost'. In psychology we also have 'competitive irrationality'... the desire to beat the competition becomes the focus, instead of pure rational thought. Never mind the fact that by Intel running around for over a decade telling everybody how they will take over the market from Nvidia... they have fueled their own irrationality.

Take a clean piece of paper and do some simple math. What are the odds Intel can catch up and ever make a profit? Now multiple that by total opportunity. How much will it cost, starting from today? Total it up and you have your answer on what to do with the project.

Taking away all of the baggage of the past and throwing off the shackles of competitive irrationality the answer is easy to see... Even if it means firing half of the team.

Yep, no news on the numbers yet, at least no news for the G5-G7 employees. My manager says he’ll pass down info once he has something from the top.
I’m currently operating totally blind lol
