Once the hype of IBM’s latest vaporware wears off, they sell it. Repeat.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: IBM needs to continue investing in:

Blockchain
Unified neural networks
Threat detection
Thrombosis
Security threat posture detection
Ennui data modeling
Xamarin endpoints
Jetrinisc intelligence
Olyphant managed services
Yasuragi query language

Giving up when things are TOO HARD just doesn’t sit right. They need to go longer and harder and things will eventually work out.

It’s not that the areas of investment were wrong. It’s the people who led the businesses who were all garbage.

Far too many Ginni soldiers put in senior positions over emerging businesses they had no idea how to grow.

Now I'm going to have to put my microwave on top of the refrigerator so that they can talk to each other!

Ginni? Ghost of Ginni?

The very SAD thing is that IBM is shedding ALL the future technologies in favor of THE DIVIDEND.

Let's look

  • - IOT is huge (factories), will be huge, and continue to grow exponentially. ABANDON SHIP
  • - Blockchain will continue to be a very increasingly integral part of our visible and invisible (banks et) lifes. This (so far) more of a SILENT ABANDON SHIP. Or "who's left to the rowboats"
  • - Health - HUGE futures there with AI. Blame Ginni but Arvind isn't bringing it back.
  • - Weather - are they really doing anything with weather other than coopting their hardware making the platform unstable?

So many OBVIOUS FUTURES ditched to focus on (dying) Hybrid Cloud based on mainframes and huge monolithic storage.

Now don't get me wrong - for the right application the non stop of mainframes are HUGE and the ESS are friggin awesome. BUT that corner of the room is getting crowded.

So 'come on IBM hunker down and invest in the FUTURE not in the past
