Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Critical skill matrix (csm)

Talk to me about csm. What skills will they measure employees on and how will it be used to decide who should be let go ?

"Beyond that, assume that family/friend connections, caste affinity, long-term sucking up and cultivation of managers, and letting the bosses take credit for your accomplishments will all be more strongly correlated with keeping your job than anything a normal person would think of as "performance""

Amen. You wish they told this openly to everyone who huddled in JF and OC for new employee orientation classes. Performance is massaged to reflect your ability to manage upwards and s#ck those above you.

csm process is after the layoff exercise req'd by HR to build a paper trail as a defense again an employee who claims they were fired improperly. CSM doesn't tell you who to fire, it tells of a possible legal justification for a previously determined fire.

If there is any of the following as part of your role, you are safe (for now):

AI, ML, DL, "Data Scientist", MLOPs

If management alone is completing the data, I’m sure it’ll be as rigorous, balanced and fair as a college admissions judgement at Harvard or UNC!

This is o/p of the CSM: It's not what you know - it's who you know and who you bl0w!

The only objectively measurable factor that will be used is how much your continued employment costs Intel.

Beyond that, assume that family/friend connections, caste affinity, long-term sucking up and cultivation of managers, and letting the bosses take credit for your accomplishments will all be more strongly correlated with keeping your job than anything a normal person would think of as "performance".

The matrix is only there to justify the personnel decisions that managers already want to make, and to make the layoff process look more rational and fair than it truly is.
