Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Baton Rouge looses best engineering manager

Yes,they finally get it right and he quits. Proof positive good people and good managers don’t stand a chance. Exxon makes yet another big mistake letting a good one go. I have to wonder if he wasn’t promoted just to give the bad ones a sacrificial lamb to cut. Best of luck and warm wishes. You will
Be successful no matter where you go. I hope the one before him doesn’t come back.

If you are constantly reminding folks that work for you that you are in charge. You are not a leader. You are a bully!

@iafl+1jImVqdM You are right my friend. The system is broken when the Toxic SLS remains

@hcjg+1jImVqdM very good DH summary however there was a heck of a lot more damage the sls created in addition to following tmts orders from the dh.
Wiped out the documentation group. Our drawings are now junk.
Appointed toxic, work credit stealing group leads which lead to a mass exodus
Ran off real leaders. Hardly anyone is left that cares or really knows anything.
Kltc
Zero support for the real group leads which lead to them trying to leave the group in order to escape her.
Volunteered for dh work that she should have never been doing then threw it onto the admins and threatened them with their job if they didn’t do it for her.
Made GL jobs unbearable
Broke down a well oiled machine and turned it into a disfunctional he-l ho-e.
Yet they remain and the capable manager gets ranked poorLy.

The system is broken!

@hyuh+1jImVqdM, that former DH is definitely a member of the good old boy club with friends in upper management. I have no idea if he accomplished anything in that role other than bore you to death pontificating and spewing philosophy. He had no ideas of his own an just went with the flow. Had such a negative impact on the organization and the disciplines. Nothing real was ever accomplished by his own doing. He was so ready to crush the org with TMTS. His minion SLS just went along with him and executed his orders so agree that BREO has been better without the 2 of them.

I agree with OP and prior posts but what I don’t understand is why the former SLS is still in charge of people.. She has had issues in every section she has ever “managed”. If that were an engineer, they would have been pipped a long time ago. The former D H must have friends in upper management because other than philosophy he really hasn’t done anything productive that I am aware of.

Things have gotten better once the dh and sls left but the damage they have caused in the disciplines and poor choices for GLs will be impacting engineering for quite some time.

The best part now is watching the tech manager go around meeting with people and begging them not to leave. I get the intent but how petty. If you want people to stay, that’s not how you do it. To think they have personal loyalty to you 😂, how full of yourself do you have to be? You’ve already done them wrong, that’s why they started looking for other opportunities.

I hear there will be a couple more in technical and btl ranks in the next couple months. Happy holidays

Hopefully it’s the right wrong ones.

This heck ho-e keeps getting worse and worse, I wish I had never taken a job here. Managers are jacked up and so are the employees. With this pip cr-p it has turned teams into individuals with everyone looking out for themselves. My manager is so messed up. She is without a doubt the most messed up person I have ever met. Drunk on power, vindictive and self serving. I can honestly say I have never met a person so shallow. Very humble and soft spoken around other managers but a tyrant outside of that. Friday I made up my mind. You all can have this God forsaken place.

Of course they want us to leave. You guys seeing the KL resources trickle in to full time roles? Slowly but surely, the contact engineers you're seeing at the morning meetings are imported in from KL.

The sheer number of upvotes tell you how much this individual was liked. Also tells you how many BR area folks read this site.
We are at a point where nothing should be a surprise as it relates to resignations. Such a different place vs. 2019

Maybe they should rank the sls and dh poorly that were responsible for all these departures. Oh wait, they want us to leave.

For the 2Q? meeting I think, mgmt told us BRES was seeing ~9% attrition, against historical of ~3% iirc.

How many employees have quit BRES post December 2020 layoff?

My group never had an employee quit in its entire history but has had 8 quit since that layoff in 2020.

Hello he’s d BRES had much higher attrition.

Post say engineering manager so obviously not a RF BTL. It’s the BREO manager in BRES, he turned in resignation this week too.

OP way off the mark in comments, assumptions about why he was promoted are very wrong. Agree we are losing one of the best and of course I wish him the best of luck. Sad that HR keeps pushing policies that drive the good folks out. This should have never happened but he wasn’t helped by the previous DH, KC either

Yeah the prior DH and a few SLS are pieces of work. Why are they still there and this guy gets ranked low? The system is broken.

Are you talking about the RF BTL that's leaving? If so, I agree, it's a shame to see them go. They were one of my favorite people I've worked with. Just goes to show how soul crushing this company can be. It's definitely our loss.

Need initials or better details. Latest to leave is a BTL, not an engineering manager.
