They will allow us to give back all that Mandatory PTO for the holidays, then we get the bloody xmas. My guess.
Pretty much. Normally the LR notice is the next day, you're employed for the next 45 days to work around the CA WARN requirements, and then you get 4 months of severance. So technically you'd be an employee through the year-end shutdown. But, when a co-worker was LR'd while on PTO, they cancelled his entire PTO request even though he was notified half-way through it and he got to keep that requested PTO and accrued PTO until his severance date and was paid for it all.
