Would switch from an IT college degree to becoming a welder. When I get let go that is the path I plan on taking. Similar pay with more job security.
@1fyp. A good friend of mine high up at another company has said for years that the higher you know, the less work you do and you are just a face of the company.
After seeing some of the recent exec hires here, I can say this person hit the nail in the head even more so here. A lot of these new βleadersβ have shown no value other than being trotted out once in a while.
I don’t think changing the past would make a difference. I have a degree in CS and it really depends what you did with it. Coding for me was boring. Look at it this way, we all made the decision we thought was right for us at the time.
There is a trend of anti college people but who really wants to weld for the next 40 years? In the medical field you are on your feet all day. Philosophy could have turned into a phd degree and cushy job in a college. Lawyers make good money but not always and it is a nasty cut throat profession and are judged based on where you graduated. Not every patient in the medical field is a profession. People who work outside do so in all weather.
Don’t second guess your decision of the past.
So tired of hearing all these people saying they do nothing and get paid tons. Probably 90% of the over 200k employees are underpaid and overworked. Constantly doing work they weren’t hired for, yet never getting paid or promoted for it because no one will go to bat for them and they keep moving the goal line. Gotta keep ‘‘em down so the other 10% get it all.
Didn’t know then, and still don’t know now. All I know is, I’m making a boatload of money off this company for very little work. In fact, this company is actually now my side hustle. My real career is just bringing my work laptop with me everywhere in the world there’s free Wi-Fi. Did I neglect to mention my VPN/US IP Wi-Fi router goes on international trips?
What about the rest of you?
Oops! You’ve been too busy bumping your soccer mom wife every weekend, instead of learning how to make your jobs easier? I guess they do say ignorance is bliss.
Medical field
I would skip college and become a caddy boy in a golf club.
Then I would get a cushy job by making friends with some of the high profile players there and enjoy my life.
Electrical Engineering to Theology cause God help us where the country and world are headed.
Something in the medical field. I tell young people to do that now instead of IT.
OB - I’d deliver babies if I had it to do over again.
Psychology to Criminal Justice - I'd be very busy
Gender Studies seems to be the lucrative thing these days. My finance degree is largely going to waste here.
I’d be a plumber and skip college. White collar work isnt what it used to be. Might as well wade through literal sh-t instead of figurative sh-t like we do all day
Comp Sci gets you a career, Philosophy?
I’d go from Philosophy to Comp Sci
i would have stayed with my original plan on continuing from an undergrad bachelor or arts in history and continued on to go to law school.
And you could fake the military effort like Mayor Pete and maybe join him and his creep.
Never too late to go back and change careers.

dont have to worry much about if I'm getting axed, year in and year out, if I'm the one bringing down the ax
