Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Just wondering...

When Ford goes to all EV, and you're not ready, what brand will you switch to, to get an ICE? Once you switch, will you ever buy a Ford again?

"A plan" is a really really sore spot with me. It's one of the few perks we even have left. And it suckks. Shame on Ford HR, marketing, or whomever is in charge of it. You stink.

Not only the points made in the previous comments, but add to that not making it mandatory for dealers to support it and most of all....limiting it by not including any of the performance or unique models (shelby mustang, raptor, etc). Thus I bought a Dodge in the past when A plan was banned on a product..

I retired last year. Will never buy a Ford product again…ever. I hate the company for screwing over so many people. Ford says family matters? Ford is full of leap with their Empty words.

The A plan discount for 'cars' was even worse than described below...

I remember the actual examples they showed in the A Plan paperwork. You'd save a ton if buying a Navigator. But you'd save literally 'hundreds' of dollars if you were buying the Fiesta or Focus. The example showed something between 200 and 400 savings if I remember correctly. Plus there was a $250 paperwork processing fee that was mandatory.

I can understand a bigger savings when spending more, but 200~400 just seemed way too little.

Toyota is taking the correct approach to this EV madness.

Ford has a non competitive warranty and poor quality. My neighbors once all bought Fords and I was the last.
Ford is putting themselves out of business. And now they have let go the talent so desperately needed.

Toyota or Honda seem logical .

I will never buy another Ford, and since Ford is no longer American made, I will just go for a Honda or Toyota and get more for my money. Ford should reap what they sow.

I have never bought a Ford in my life, although I have driven a few. When I started at FMC, I thought about getting one. The issue is that even with the employee discount, I had better offers for cars of other brands.

The A plan is great for an expensive vehicle, such as a truck, since you could get a discount of several thousands of dollars. However, you only get a discount of maybe a couple thousands of dollars in a car, and Ford cars were already too expensive, too unreliable for my taste.

Years later I thought about getting a Maverick, mainly because it is not that big and was priced as a car, but the chip crisis, the delays in delivery, the so many recent recalls and user's complaints made me go elsewhere. I ended paying more, but I have the peace of mind knowing my new car will not spend days or weeks in the shop.

BTW, I tend to favor the Japanese brands, especially the vehicles assembled in Japan. Sorry UAW, but I know you well enough to not trust you.
