Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Good severance package - How can I request to be laid off?

6 months + tenure based so pretty cool in terms of layoffs in the past that I have seen. I can spend some time off at the beach ⛱️ in Colombia 🇨🇴.

The layoff site has become a joke.

Oh when was it ever serious? With censorship applied quite liberally to posts that don't go in the direction of the site's admin, what do you expect?

The six months is correct. It was referenced on a leaders only call after the earnings call today.

I'd be very surprised by that. The CFO's comment "600 million consisting of severance and other one-time termination benefits, real estate-related charges, and other costs" is a lot less than the LR's of 2011 and 2016 and they didn't get 6-mo severance and was for 5,500 & 6,500 employees. Those LRs didn't include real estate-related charges either.

Why would Cisco increase the severance package instead of reducing it? They've made it slightly smaller every time except for the one that happened just before the pandemic shutdown and they kept LR'd people on the books for a few extra months.

I hope it's true, but I hope I don't get to hear the details officially because that would mean I get to look for a new job in a recession during the months when no one is hirings (Nov/Dec & sometimes Jan).

That was a one-time event during the earlier days of Covid. Don't expect anything like that again. More likely to be 30 days plus 1 week per year of service. Or, newer method, 60 day notice to find a new role or job outside of Cisco and at the end of 60 days your employment terminates, get paid out for your unused PTO."

NO, You are wrong. The layoff site has become a joke
